Scratch and My Life (Part 2) Hi guys! Studying-Chemistry over here for yet another update! It’s been a very long time since I created the last one, and of course, a lot has changed in middle school. Right now, I’m in 6th Grade, or as I should say, a sophomore, and let’s get it started! Part One: School Chapter One: English and Math Let’s start it off with English Class! English has been my frenemy ever since, and a lot has changed. In middle school, we had to learn about morphemes since 5th Grade, and now for this year, we are starting to get quizzed on them. This started when the new trimester started a few weeks ago in March and we would find the part of speech, a paraphrased definition, synonyms, an example, and an image for each word that was on there. And technically, we’re really quizzed on the words and not the morphemes, and everything has been going smoothly with that. Well then, why is it also an enemy? Well, long story short it's the classic use of textual evidence, the pressure on reading more, the pressure on socratic seminars, the pressure on writing prompts, the pressure on essays, and the pressure on completing our homework the same day we get it. Sometimes it felt good, but other times, it didn't. But, we read The War that Saved my Life and we’re reading Refugee and that’s OK anyways. And, what about Math? Well, we reviewed a lot of things we learned about in 5th Grade, a little bit of algebra, a little bit of geometry, and a little bit about negative numbers. That was math in a nutshell. Chapter 2: History and Science History, governed by the English teacher, was quite interesting. At the beginning, we learned about the Mesoamericans, you know, like the Aztecs, Mayans, etc, that all came from Mexico? The names for the Aztec gods are crazy, like Huitzilopochtli (weet-see-luh-POWCH-tuh-lee), Xochipilli (shoh-chee-PEE-lee), and my absolute favorite, Chalchiuhtlicue (chal-chee-leet-wee-kway), and so crazy, in fact, that I had to look up their pronunciations! Nahuatl is insane! We also learned about the Romans, and stuff from that, and now, we’re learning about Ancient India. The worst part about it was learning about Ashoka and his edicts (look that up), and that was so boring. And for that unit, we have to do an essay about a topic of Ancient India and make another presentation for that topic. Anyways, I chose the History of Ancient India, and I have to make an educational program about that, so, good luck! Also, most of the unit was very interesting! Soon, we’re gonna learn about Ancient China. In Science, we got a new Science teacher, and I’m completely fine with it. Needless to say, we get Jolly Ranchers, and no, I'm not joking. The units were fine, like this unit where we're learning about healing, and the weather unit. Chapter 3: Other things about school Middle school is basically heaven and non-heaven at the same time. I have to hear about these annoying kids who scream and wear the ugliest crocs in the universe, while I learn about interesting subjects. Band class is a cacophony, Health could either be PTSD-enducing or not, PE is fun, with some not-so-fun things, and electives are completely normal. Part 2: Scratch You may know about my inactivity on scratch, and that's because I'm 1.) Busy and 2.) Uninterested. I don't really know about the toxicity of the platform right now, but if you do know, tell in the comments!
