It's April 8th! Four Years since I finished Lockwood and Co and Act II of Hamilton! This year, instead of drawing Lucy, Flo, and Holly, I drew Lucy, Kitty Jones from Bartimaeus, and Scarlett McCain from Scarlett and Browne. I chose to make this change because I was thinking about how Johnathan Stroud is one of the few YA writers who writes a strong female character (excluding Joanne Rowling {don't k!ll me for mentioning her} and Suzanne Collins) who doesn't instantly fall for the leading male character. These three girls have been such an inspiration in my life, and I decided what better of a day to celebrate them? This years song is Wait For It, so I decided to draw each of the girls with some kind of nod to another character in Hamilton. Kitty's outfit is inspired by Hamilton's in Act II (I changed it to grey though because it fit her better); Lucy's collar is resemblant of that of a judge, drawing her parallel to Burr because both want some form of justice; finally, Scarlett is wearing the same crimson shade as Mariah Reynolds, showing that she is creating a distraction to draw away from one of her darker, more mischievous plans. And just like Aaron Burr in the musical, each of the girls can be considered an unreliable narrator. Anyways! It's not like anyone cares about my personal nerdy holiday, but enjoy it none the less!
To Johnathan Stroud for the awesome characters. Lin-Manuel Miranda for Hamilton
