Click or press space for next backdrop. Please use this as a general guide to Rule 6. All art is by me and it's there because when I work on projects I get distracted. Skip to the very bottom for the summary. Begin transcript. Slide 1. Rule 6 criteria. What counts as a troll? Slide 2. Rule 6 - Don't interact with or link trolls, this gives them attention. Instead, report and ignore. If you see a troll on the studio, ignore them. Often, trolls' behaviour is fueled by the need for attention, and they like to cause drama. Ignoring them will limit any fulfilment they gain from trolling, and hopefully dissuade them from continuing. Don't click on any links they post. Also, please report any of their comments that break Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. If their profile is inappropriate, report that too! Slide 3. There are lots of different types of trolls, but Rule 6 should be applied to all of them. During your time on the studio, you might see ragebaiters, bigots, sockpuppets, and spammers. While some have a larger impact than others, and some may have an impact on only a select few, or certain targets, it's important that all are reported for CG/ToS violations and ignored. Slide 4. What's a ragebaiter? A ragebaiter is a person who deliberately posts antagonising, insensitive, or provoking content in viewers, often for engagement and interaction. They enjoy getting a reaction out of others and often do not care about anothers' feelings. When you are targeted by a ragebaiter, it is important to remember that it is their aim to upset you and get you to interact with them, and that they do not know you. It is best to try to ignore them, and report any mean comments. Slide 5. Examples of ragebait are mentions of supporting inappropriate behaviours or relationships, dismissal or denial of genocides or other significant historical events suffered by a country or people, blatant bigotry and criticism of identities, comments that are generally inappropriate in nature, rude responses to comments asking for positivity, euphoria, or reassurance, and politically insensitive comments. Please note that sometimes a user may seriously have these beliefs. However, often it's just ragebait. Slide 6. What's a bigot? Someone who is unreasonably attached to a [often political] belief, opinion, or group, that is unreasonably prejudiced/antagonistic toward another person or group. Slide 7. Examples of bigotry are homophobia, transphobia, intersexism, ableism, racism, religious discrimination, classism, ageism, sexism, bioessentialism, etc. Please not that this is not an exhaustive list. Slide 8. What's a sockpuppet? A sockpuppet is a user who creates multiple online identities or accounts for false, deceptive, or malicious purposes, lying about who they are. Slide 9. Sockpuppets may only target one person, or they may harm a group. They aim to deceive and cause harm, and it is important that their actions are not encouraged or condoned through engagement and interaction. Sending reports to Scratch Team, or reporting their Community Guidelines violations, is the best idea. Slide 10. Spammers. As I imagine you've noticed, lately we've had a lot of spammers conducting raids within the studio. This is currently the type of troll we see the most Rule 6 violations surrounding. The best thing to do when raids happen is to go to an alternate studio, or log off, get some water, or take a break. If you wish to forget something you have seen, playing Tetris for a bit usually helps. My profile is open for comfort. Slide 11. These spammers feed off interaction and engagement, and enjoy upsetting people. It is very important that users refrain from interacting with them or mentioning their behaviours. They may post inappropriate spam comments, invite people to their groups offsite [do not join, this will encourage them sending more of said invites], post links to "games" that actually show violent videos, or invite you to studios with inappropriate titles. Do not click the links, report them. Slide 12. How to follow Rule 6 and still receive comfort. "Can I please have positivity? The troll is upsetting me." is a comment that would violate Rule 6. "Can I please have positivity? I'm feeling down." and "Can I please have positivity?" do not violate Rule 6. Slide 13. "The transphobe misgendered me, could I have euphoria?" violates Rule 6. "I'm feeling dysphoric, could I have euphoria?" and "Could I have euphoria?" do not violate Rule 6. Slide 14. "Got an invite from a spammer - I need spam to bury it. Could I have spam?", and "Got another one. Spam please." violate Rule 6. "Spam please!!" does not violate Rule 6. Slide 15. "Please don't click on the link! I just saw something horrible that makes me feel really sick. Could I have some comfort?" and "That's so horrible of them to post. Could I have some comfort?" both violate Rule 6. "Could I have some comfort?" does not violate Rule 6.
Slide 16. "Why have they got to be so mean about my religion? Can I be told I'm valid, please?" and "Hey AltHive! Why are comments off, are the spammers back?" violate Rule 6. "Can I be told I'm valid for my religion?" and "Hey AltHive!" do not. Slide 17. "I just got a threat from a troll. Could I please have reassurance everything will be okay?" and "I think the spammer has my IP address. Please tell me I'm safe and okay." both violate Rule 6. "Could I have reassurance that I'm safe and everything is okay?" does not. Slide 18. "Please tell me to log off, I'm getting distressed by the troll." and "I hate it when they do that. Hello, Althive! I'm not feeling too great because of this." violate Rule 6. "Please tell me to log off!" and "Hello, AltHive! I'm not feeling too great." do not violate Rule 6. Slide 19. Summary and other information. Rule 6 is quite important! Bigots, spammers, sockpuppets, and ragebaiters all fall under this rule, and should be reported for CG violations and ignored. If you have trouble with this, log off! Karma is not subtracted when trolls break rules, but it is when Gaehivians do! Please do not comment "Rule 6" over and over again on the studio, this will feed the drama. End transcript. Thanks for reading.
