Hi everyone Idk if I’ll keep this up, but I was really excited and wanted to make a post about this So, I’ve recently been looking for some videos with advice that can be helpful for me with working on all the future stories I wish to make. This morning, I found a yt channel specifically centered around webcomic advice, and the videos of theirs I’ve watched so far have been pretty helpful. One of the videos I watched was about creating characters, and afterwards I started brainstorming ideas to help flesh out some of the characters in my story ideas. And specifically one character in particular: Nightpaw, the main protagonist of FitD’s sequel, Stars And Shadows. I’ve stated before how I am much more favorable towards protagonists with a decent moral compass, and as such, that’s what I like to write about. But a problem I was having with Nightpaw was finding a way to make her stand out — more specifically, a way to clearly differentiate her from Hawkflight. And I’ve figured out something that I’m pretty happy with. Hawkflight is a very passive character at the start of FitD. He lives in a very calm and relatively stress-free environment (at least, as far as he is aware), and as such, he doesn’t usually think about the idea of bad things. When problems arise, he wants it to get better, but he doesn’t seek out problems to solve, he only tries to deal with them once they start affecting his own life. Nightpaw, on the other hand, is much more assertive. She has a very strong sense of justice, and wishes to become a great warrior to help spread said justice. She is very aware that there are things wrong in the world and she wants to do whatever she can to fix them. However, she has a very strict view on right and wrong. I specifically like this idea the most because of how that can play into the plot. Her black-and-white viewpoint will certainly be challenged multiple times throughout the story, and I think it will make for some interesting character development. (Also, the idea of her having a black-and-white opinion on things is fun because of her color scheme. I like visual imagery) It also will help with another problem I was having, that being where her character should go in the continuation of Stars And Shadows, Clouded Fates (think of SaS as a part 1 and CF as a part 2). I was struggling with figuring out where she should go from where I know SaS will end. So, yeah. Finally figured out a character that was troubling me for quite some time. Also, I know it’s very obvious who Nightpaw’s parents are. I wouldn’t have posted art of her if I was trying to keep that a secret. ~~~ Art and character belong to Music is from Legend of Zelda
