:: Chapter Six, continued :: Brooks watched as Adar opened the door to the wagon. Suddenly, she was struck with a dreadful thought. "Why is everything so quiet?" the Sea Creature wondered aloud, her eyes widening. Adar, who had just hoisted himself into the wagon, froze and returned to her. "You don't think—" The elf didn't have time to finish that thought. A spear flew past Brooks from behind, and she ducked and flattened herself against the wagon's side. Adar stretched out his arm to her. "Get in!" he yelled, his red eyes narrowed. Brooks grabbed the elf's forearm and pulled herself up as he stepped back. Yells from the guards rang out as Brooks slammed the wagon door and Adar ran to the front, taking up the horses' reins that pulled the cart. "What are you doing?!" Brooks shouted to him, holding the door closed so the guards couldn't get in. Adar glanced back at the Sea Creature. "I'm getting us out of here!" the elf said, glaring at her. Brooks chuckled, not knowing how else to handle the situation, and shook her head in disbelief. Adar snapped the reins, urging the horses. The horses reared and bucked in retaliation. Adar grumbled and urged them again, his voice loud. That's when the horses got the hint. They took off so fast, that Brooks was thrown from the door, onto the floor. "OW!" the Sea Creature protested, rubbing her head and sitting up from the floor. Adar, however, didn't pay her any mind as he continued to steer the horses through the forest. Brooks got to her feet, swaying from dizziness in the wagon. She stepped forward shakily, resting a hand on Adar's shoulder from behind to keep herself stable. "Where in the Moon's name are we going?" the Sea Creature asked, her eyes narrowed.
