vera , d9 , gamemakers .. Vera stood impatiently waiting for her Gamemakers. Why did she have to be in District 9? She was obviously meant to be born in District 1 or something. She shouldn't have to be waiting this long! That's all the past few weeks have been. Waiting and waiting and waiting. Nothing interesting ever happened. All she wanted to do was go home. If she went home... nope. Not thinking about that. Think about how stupid it is that she has to wait. VERA GUERRA Finally. Her name was called. She bound to the door with a bounce in her step, overjoyed to be escaping the horrible waiting room she had been held on. Then it dawned on her. This was Gamemakers. Ew. Like that's so stupid. Why do they even need to do a test of physical strength anyway? Smart tributes won all the time, and she totally counted as smart. The peacekeepers leading her towards the door nudged her as she stopped for that brief moment to think about how much she did not want to do this. Like she's probably gonna get eliminated before even making it into the arena in there. Hopefully it'll be something easy this year. Maybe uh... holograms she has to beat in a fashion contest? That'd be so easy. The peacekeepers nudged her again. "Okay fine! I'm going to your stupid Gamemakers thing." She swung the door open in a fit of rage. "I'm like totally gonna show you all. Show you to not mess with me or whatever." She had wasted so much time by screaming at the peacekeepers, that by the time she had actually shut the door, the bird had already been startled and was flying off through the trees. Vera squinted at the bird flying away from her. Oh. That's an ugly bird. Wonder why it's the only animal in this forest. So... she glanced around the area. What's she supposed to do? Like? Find her way through this forest? Before she could debate what her task was any longer, the sound of rushing water hit her ears. Quickly she whipped around to see a giant wall of water coming towards her. Feeling fear for what might've been the first time in her entire life, she bolted off as fast as she could into the forest. All thoughts had vanished from her mind as her only focus was not dying. She needed to escape the giant wall of water. Glancing around she attempted to find an area of safety. She was smart enough to know that climbing a tree would be her end. Trees topple in the water. There's no way climbing one would actually work. She looked around more. No rocks in the area seemed tall enough either and- She tripped, landing face flat into the ground, no having time to breath before the water overtook her. Bobbing up and down in the water, she decided to just lay still on her back, hoping that she would be able to get some breaths in that way. The rapid water bashed her against trees and rocks, but only the tallest of them. Luckily the water was high enough up that it wasn't as bad as it could be. Maybe the water would be calmer if she got away from the front of the wave? She grabbed onto a tree branch, one sturdy enough to keep it from breaking off into the water. She held on tight as she was berated by all the objects swept up by the tide, but she managed to hold on. Eventually the water calmed as the front of it had oved far enough away from her, carrying most of the loose objects with it. The water was now calm enough for her to swim in safely, which is great since swimming is one of her best skills. No actually! For real this time. Her parents didn't pay for any of her swimming medals! Unlike with all the other sports... The Gamemakers were so stupid though. Like just giving a pool to the best swimming in all of Hunger Games history? Yeah. So dumb! Anyways... what is she supposed to do? She glanced around for any sign of a goal as she swam across the flooded landscape. That bird from early kept pestering her as she went. That bird is so horrible! Why was it following her around? Shouldn't it be afraid of her. "Ugh go away!" she screamed as she batted at the bird above her. Completely by accident she ended up swatting the bird all the way into the water. "Uh. Oops. Sorry bird! Didn't mean to do that... actually wait you're annoying I'm gonna drown you." Vera then proceeded to drown the bird. It's ugly anyway it doesn't deserve to live. Like was that supposed to be a bird of paradise? Because if so it kind of failed at being tropical. It was reeeally brown looking. Oh wait... the water's going down? Slowly the water seemed to all seep into the ground, in a way that didn't feel normal in the slightest. Why was the water leaving? Had she done something right? Suddenly a door seemed to open up from a random spot in the forest. Wow. The Capitol tech must be really great if they can hide an entire door. "Vera Guerra," the peacekeeper spoke, "Your Gamemakers are over. You may return to the waiting area." "Ugh, finally!" Wait how did that happen?
