Help Sir Duke save Princess Gabriella from the evil Wizard Murray and his pet dragon Earl. Players move Sir Duke through a maze using the arrow keys while avoiding the walls coated with magic slime and the fiery breath of Earl.
I have added to a Studio KnightQuest with the whole content. This was originally created to teach 4th-6th graders scratch. The concept was to have the characters in the game ask the kids for help. So Sir Duke will get to the door and find it is locked, and say "If only I knew a programmer" The kids get to incorporate a key, troubleshoot a bug, create a shield. I setup the game so that they could easily switch the characters and have the princess save Sir Duke. Lessons: 1 - Introduction to Scratch (characters greet the kids when clicked) kids add code to move the knight. 2 - Create the Intro. Kids paint the background and help Earl get the princess. I show them how to switch hero and hostage costumes so that they can have Sir Duke captured and the princess be the hero. 3 - The hero moves through the maze, encounters the door being locked and a says if only I knew a programmer. Kids learn how to get an existing sprite, fix a bug and get the hero through the door. Unfortunately the wizard is waiting and sends a fireball to our hero vaporizing them. The hero thinks "If only I had a shield". Kids then make a shield from scratch learn how to copy code from sprite to sprite and then get our hero prepared. The hero returns, the wizard's fireball bounces back, and our hero is greeted by a thankful hostage. The children begin by opening a basic project where the characters introduce themselves. The create an introduction and can choose whether Sir Duke saves Princess Gabriella or she saves him.
