Hey. I'd like to start out by saying that I am not a manager. I don't have any real power in this situation. However. That doesn't mean I'm enjoying this "break the rules" game some of us are apparently playing. I love gwdfi, it's such a cool idea and I'd like to say IS a great community... but it's changed a lot. This isn't just me ranting about how things are changing and it's different, it's about how things are changing and it's getting worse. I find myself less and less eager to get on gwdfi after school, which is scary honestly, bc I know that if it's not closed for one reason or another, it will probably be soon. I've seen the countdown drop to -20 in a single day. That's scary. So I'd like to, as a curator, say a few things. 1. Spam is an issue, yes, however- We've had a lot of issues with spam recently. A LOT. I get that, and it's changed some of the functions and moods of gwdfi. But you know what it hasn't changed? The rules. Specifically the one that says "report and ignore all spammers and trolls". You heard that before? With the way we're acting rn, I'd be shocked if we said yes. Don't make fun of the spammers, don't give them the attention they want, or things get worse. I understand that sometimes it's hard to tell if someone's a spammer/troll at first, and I will reluctantly admit that I've mistaken a troll's first comment for someone simply being insensitive before. But if you see them continue to spam or troll, report plz. That's it. 2. The Rules. We're not afraid to report you. I understand that a lot of new gwdfiers have joined during the spam, and they may not be accustomed to how gwdfi usually runs, but by now we should know what happens. We start with 10 points. Break the rules, -1. Reaches 0, closure for 1 hour. This shouldn't be a daily occurrence. I've seen it take anywhere from weeks to a day for this to happen. Let's keep it at weeks plz. Don't think people aren't reporting or noticing you when you do it. We are. Trust me. I've done it, others have done it, and we will continue to do it until you stop. If you wouldn't talk about it to your eight-year-old cousin, don't talk about it to us. I completely understand that some ppl really really need support and are going through tough times, but we are not licensed therapists. Some of us are triggered by that stuff, and all of us are not the kind of help you want/need. If you're looking for a scratch studio to help you with that, I recommend this one: . And plz, dirty jokes are fine with your irl friends, but for the sake of the seven year olds and the rest of us who don't want to hear it, don't make those comments. 3. The managers are awesome, plz listen to them!! The managers are soooo amazing, patient and kind. That does not mean they will condone violations of the rules. The rules are the rules. The managers are here to ensure we follow them. So let's make their job a little less stressful and do that, kay? They are working soooo hard to keep this studio afloat, and they're doing a great job, especially considering everything that's been going on recently :) 4. No one hates you <3 I know these kinds of projects can sound harsh, but I can promise that no one hates you. We might be frustrated with gwdfi as a whole, but that doesn't mean you have to keep doing frustrating things. Ppl make honest mistakes all the time. But the best way to handle that is apologize, make things right, and move on. Don't get mad when someone reminds you of a rule plz. They don't hate you, I promise. Snapping at managers and other curators is not making things right", so plz don't do it. It's never too late to apologize and turn around. This "break the rules without getting caught" game some of us seem to be playing is harder to play than it is to quit. Just don't type out the comment you know isn't allowed, don't continue to interact with a confirmed spammer no matter how angry you are, don't continuously reject manager's reminders. Gwdfi is a great community, let's keep it that way. When you first joined, what is the one message you all got? "Please remember to read the rules, thank you and welcome to gwdfi!" It never hurts to read them through again to refresh your memory. I've linked it at the very bottom of the credits section in case you get the sudden inspiration. No one's going to blacklist you from gwdfi, and no one's going to hold a grudge. Mistakes happen, that's totally okay. People do things they aren't proud of, and that's okay too. Forgiveness is always something we're willing to give you, if you're ready to accept it :) Gwdfi is a community. Not a game. You don't get points added to your score for breaking the rules. You lose them. And we can only reach 0 so many times before it's game over for good. Unless you deliberately stop playing. Thanks to the managers, curators and amazing ppl who are doing their part in this, Vex.
This is not meant to be mean, and it isn't directed at everyone. It's okay to make mistakes, but it's not okay to continue even after you've realized what you're doing. Thank you so much to ppl who have also made projects about this!!
