Sure, the Red Top could pull it's weight and strafe the ground with good accuracy but it was hardly equipped with the correct equipment nor armament to actively combat ground forces for prolonged periods of time. That's where the NLAC-SAA-64 "Griffin" comes in, a plane made specifically for offense against ground and sea targets. Although comparable to the Red Top, it's changes are so numerous that it exists as it's own aircraft rather than a variant of the Red Top. Many of these will fly over Koryang and Cossareo very soon.
