Duskpaw's Promise Chapter 6 The sunset arrived quickly, illuminating the sky with a blood-red glow. Moon quickly assembled the other dogs and after dropping Fuzzball off at Princess's house, they set off into the woods. Cypress complained a bit about entering the realm of the cats, but was quickly silenced. It was better than what was waiting back there. The days passed quickly. The nights were cold and prey was scarce. Everyone was hungry. --------- On the ninth day, Breeze managed to take down a rabbit on the side of a road. As the dogs were settling down for a well-deserved meal, the bushes nearby rustled loudly. Breeze and Alpine were instantly alert, growling at this new threat. Then, a group of cats emerged from the undergrowth. They leaped back, hissing, startled by the presence of the dogs. Then the one with half her facial fur missing spotted the rabbit. "What are you doing with OUR rabbit?" she snarled, eyes narrowing. Cypress darted out from behind Alpine. "YOUR rabbit?" he shrieked, "WE caught it, you mangy creatures!" The cat snarled, "You caught it on our territory. Which makes it THUNDERCLAN'S." A small thin black cat with white paws approached the cat with the missing facial fur, "Egretstar, I suggest we attack immediately and drive these foul dogs off our land before they scare off any more of our prey." Egretstar nodded, considering the younger cat's words, "Yes, Nightinggalepaw. Maybe we should. You really are smarter than I thought." She turned back to the dogs, "You will leave our territory at once. Or we will send you howling back home with your tails between your legs." Alpine growled furiously, "Not before we finish the rabbit." Egretstar closed her eyes. "So be it." She gestured at Nightinggalepaw with her tail who inhaled sharply and screeched, "THUNDERCLAN! ATTACK!"
