Stimming, short for self-stimulatory behavior, is repetitive movements or actions. Not just autistic people stim; neurotypical people stim too. Autistic people's stims may be more noticeable than neurotypical people's. Stimming can be used to express happiness or other emotion, and it can be calming when a person is overstimulated. I've created this project explaining more about stimming: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1013217241/ Fidget tools are small objects that provide tactile stimulation. Using a fidget tool can help a person to pay attention to a task. Some of my favorite stims are hand flapping, squeezing my hands together rhythmically, tapping my foot, and bouncing my knee. Some of my favorite fidget tools are stress balls and weighted fidget spinners. Additionally, I have a necklace with an infinity symbol charm and rainbow beads, and I will fidget with this my rolling the beads between my fingers and thumb.
