ITS BEEN SO LONG SINCE I MADE A CHAPTER...I'm so sorry guys T~T No! How could this HAPPEN!? He wasn't chosen to go to the gathering!? How would he talk to Cloudpaw then? He would just sit in camp and do boring things! Arghhh! His heart raced with frustration as he threw himself back onto the mossy floor of the den. It felt like all his dreams of excitement and adventure were slipping away with every passing moment. Has it been 3 minutes or 3 MOONS? Time seemed to blur, stretching endlessly in his mind. When would they get back and deliver the news? This was crazily BORING, more than he thought it would be, and he decided to lay down in his nest. Maybe sleep would appease him. As soon as he closed his eyes, an unnatural stillness enveloped him, a quiet so deep it felt almost suffocating. He awoke to dead forests and small fires flickering ominously in the distance, their eerie glow casting long shadows across the barren landscape. Whenever he saw a rustle in the nearly lifeless bushes, it vanished before he could fully turn his head. Whenever he felt the soft brush of prey fur against his claws, it would slip away the instant he lunged, almost as if it had been an illusion all along. How could any cat live here? How could anyone survive more than a quarter-moon without going mad? He shuddered, an unease creeping down his spine. Suddenly, a force grappled him from behind, throwing him face-first into the dirt. He sprang to his paws, spitting out dirt and scrambling to look around, but there was no cat in sight. Panic surged as he felt a sharp tug on his tail, yanked violently as if it had a mind of its own. His heart raced as he twisted around, but there was no one behind him. Paws seemed to grasp his back legs, pulling him down again. Once his vision cleared, he saw Lizardpaw standing a few tail-lengths away, a triumphant smirk plastered across his face. "Do you think you're safe wherever you go? Perhaps danger will just run away as it sees you," Lizardpaw snarled, taunting him. This was enough to ignite a fire within; before he could think twice, they were grappling in another training session. Meanwhile, Cloudpaw pranced around the camp, agitation radiating from her every move. How could she have been overlooked? Not chosen to go to the GATHERING? It felt unfair and wrong. Blizzardpaw was probably there right now, having the time of his life! Maybe he was chatting it up with Ravenpaw. How would SHE know what was happening? She fluffed up her fur, feeling the weight of the unfairness settle heavily on her chest. "Well, you seem distracted," purred Meadowshine from behind her, breaking her spiraling thoughts. Cloudpaw turned to see the elder watching her with a twinkle of amusement in her eyes. The embarrassment of not noticing her before washed over her like a cold wave, and she stuttered, "Uhh, yeah, just upset... that I couldn't go to the gathering." Meadowshine raised an eyebrow, silently urging her to share more, but before Cloudpaw could find her words, Bramblebush stepped in with a mischievous grin on his face. "Don't tell me you're bothering this poor apprentice?" he chided. "Why, you ought to respect an Elder! Who didn't teach you that?" Meadowshine cut in. Meadowshine's growl was low but unwavering. "You?" Bramblebush replied sarcastically, which drew a rusty purr from Meadowshine. Their bickering continued, the elderly she-cat and the tom never seemed to stop arguing, she found it quite amusing.. However, all she could think about was the gathering and how she was missing out on what could have been an unforgettable night. Cloudpaw felt her eyelids grow heavy as their voices blurred into a distant hum, and before she realized it, she had drifted off into her nest. When she opened her eyes, she was startled to find herself standing before a sprawling river, its waters glistening in the moonlight. "This will be packed with tons of fish!" she meowed excitedly, taking a step forward, her paw hovering just above the water's surface. But suddenly, the water began to swell and rise aggressively. "What’s going on!?" she yowled in panic, scrambling back as the waves surged, crashing over the riverbanks and racing toward her. She ran, her heart pounding, the fear of drowning haunting every stride. Her muscles ached with the effort, yet she pushed forward until she could no longer run, collapsing in a barren land devoid of life or water. "Where am I?" she wondered aloud, surveying the desolate surroundings. "This place is horrible!"
(CONTINUED) Then she heard light pawsteps behind her and spun around. "Hey now, it's great for character development! Cats from here are interesting, like me!" a voice called out. She tensed, staring at the dark, shadowy she-cat padding toward her. "Where is...HERE?" Cloudpaw growled, her fur bristling as she stood her ground. The she-cat stared at her, unfazed. "Here is... here; it's not ALL bad," she said. "I'm Blossompaw." "Uh, Cloudpaw. Why am I here? What do you want with me?" Cloudpaw demanded, unsheathing her claws, ready for whatever was to come next. "Oh, nothing! I'm just a new friend," Blossompaw purred as if they were old friends. Cloudpaw took a step back, her instincts screaming that this cat was CRAZY! "I'm a cat who's willing to listen. You could ask me for advice, vent to me, gossip with me—anything you wish," Blossompaw continued, her voice smooth like silk. Cloudpaw felt an inexplicable urge to trust Blossompaw and suddenly blurted out everything that weighed on her heart. "And it's SO unfair I can't go to the gathering!" she finished, her voice tinged with desperation. Blossompaw nodded knowingly. "You're right; it's totally unfair, and you deserve to go. You've been loyal. What did you do wrong to miss out? The OTHER apprentices went. I think your leader picks favorites." "EXACTLY!" Cloudpaw exclaimed, her spirit lifted by Blossompaw's words. She liked this cat! This cat UNDERSTOOD her! Just as she was about to share more, the world around them began to shift and warp, the colors blending into chaos. "What?" Cloudpaw growled, confusion stealing over her. "I've overstayed!" Blossompaw's voice rang out, calm yet urgent. "Well, it's been great talking to you! Goodbye, Cloudpaw!" With that, everything vanished, and Cloudpaw jolted awake, her heart racing as she blinked into the morning light. "What in Starclan was that dream? "She murmured softly, knowing deep down that it felt too real to be just a dream. She spotted the gathering patrol returning to camp, and the emotion inside her churned with uncertainty. "It was just a dream, nothing more," she reassured herself, but no matter how hard she insisted on this lie, she couldn’t shake the thoughts of Blossompaw and the weight of her words. Of course...Blossompaw was her new friend, she shouldn't doubt her, should she? --- Warriors belongs to Erin Hunter Incredible art by @appleshade101wc No song, again --- Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1170918559/ Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1159538181/ First: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1154313310/
