As some of you know, it's Earth Day today, so I made this poster/parallax for today. 5 Fun Facts about the earth: 1. Earth's Color: Our beautiful earth wasn't always green, in fact, it used to be purple. It's true! Due to ancient microbes and the formation of the Earth, other molecules besides chlorophyll may have been used. 2. Our earths "perfect" spherical shape: The Earth is NOT perfectly round! While the Earth appears to be a rounded globe, it's actually closer to the shape of an ellipsoid 3. Earth's core is as hot as the sun's surface: Within uncertainty, the temperature at the center of the Earth is the same as the temperature at the surface of the sun (5800 K). At about almost 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit, or 5537.778 degrees Celsius, that’s hot. 4. The earth is OLD: Today, we know from radiometric dating that Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. Had naturalists in the 1700s and 1800s known Earth's true age, early ideas about evolution might have been taken more seriously 5. Life: Earth is the only planet with actual life.. that we know of. There might be some other planets, hundreds of thousands if not millions of life sustaining planets out there in the Milky Way Galaxy ALONE.
