{ apologies for the crusty thumbnail photo! I cannot draw digitally, as my phone has vanished and I do not know its whereabouts } - WELCOME TO MARITIME - Welcome aboard, all ye sailors, pirates, and ne’er-do-wells. If ye plan to spend your stay here in the brig, yer welcome to tell me now and spare us all the trouble. Otherwise, th’ shipman’s quarters are thataway, an’ food’s at sunhigh. We’ll be taking off in a tide-set, so be sure t’ settle in afore then. - RULES - Yer on my ship now, seafarers, so listen, and listen well. I’ve but four rules, and you’d do best to listen to them, lest I be forced to take action. - There will be no- and I do mean /no/- baseless disrespect on my ship. We’re all cats here, and ye’ll do well to treat yer shipmates by the merit of their skill and spirit and not by any prejudice ye may have. - If ye’ve got grievances, don’t be making them the problem o’ the ship. Come to me if ye wish, and I’ll have ye duel it out like cats. - A shipmate killed without a proper duel is a free ticket over the ship’s side. I’ve no plans to host a coward on the Maritime. - There’ll be no dueling me, or th' doctor, and I say this now with full certainty. If ye’ve a problem with my leadership or th' doctor's conduct, ye’ll come to me with it or find yerself in the brig. - MISSION - What, didja not read th' flyers? Aye, we’re voyaging. Searchin’ for the land at the edge of the world, if ye must know. They say it’s utopia, made of gold with fruit and meat aplenty. …They say one wish will be granted to each brave sailor that reaches it. ...Nevertheless. My reasons for voyaging are not yours to request. Nor are yours anyone’s, so don’t expect me to ask you. - COURSE - We’ll be at sea much of the journey, of course. I’ve plotted the course that, with no disturbances, after th' initial stretch we’ll land ashore every other tide-set for one day to gather supplies, pick up more sailors, an' stretch our legs. Ye’ll each get a wage based off yer efforts, feel right free to treat yerself an’ spend it how you like. I’m a captain, not a tyrant. - RANKS - Now, I’m sure yer wonderin’ when ye’ll get yer ranks. Now, I ain’t the most reliable, but ye’ll be gettin' yer ranks when ye present yerself to be worthy of em. Yer opportunities are as such: CAPTAIN - 0 SLOTS - That’ll be me, don’t ye right think about it. I’m in charge of the Maritime, and I do well intend to stay that way. FIRST MATE - 1 SLOT - Mine right hand on the seas. Ye’ll be instructin’ the crew an’ carryin’ out my orders. SECOND MATE - 1 SLOT - Left hand, s’pose you could say. Ye’ll be keepin’ the crew in line an' keepin' 'em from tryin' to mutiny or rebel. Whether that be by force or respect, it’s yer job an’ yer call. SHIPMATE - NO LIMIT - Any average sailor. Yer all shipmates till ye prove yer worth. HEAD COOK- 2 SLOTS - I'd hope y’know what this cat does, the ship don’t have room for dimwits. Ye’ll be in charge of tracking food stores, an’ rationing if we’re runnin’ short. Ye must provide livable food for everyone, though throwin’ in an extra lick of spice out o’ spite don’t hurt long as I don’t catch ya. COOK - TBD SLOTS - Follow the cook’s orders, an’ help prepare th’ food. Simple as. BOATSWAIN - 1 SLOT - In charge o’ deck maintenance. Keep the ropes, masts, and sails in top shape, an’ make sure we’re ready for any storm that’d jump us. Yer in charge of th' deckhands, for th' most part. DECKHAND - NO LIMIT - Lowest of ‘em. Whether ye’ve broken th’ rules, or yer just incompetent as can be, if yer here, ye’ve done somethin’ to deserve it. Yer job is to clean, carry, follow, an’ whatever yer told to do. DOCTOR - 2 SLOTS - Yer job’s pretty clear. Take care of them who’ve been injured, and in return ye’ll be kept out of the fray if we're to get into a battle. Aye, I know yer not qualified. Ye’ve got yer bandages and disinfectant, make do. NURSE - TBD SLOTS - Help th' doctor, and when there's not much activity, help about the hip with what ye can. Ye won't be getting special treatment for knowin' how to stitch a cut, so I expect ye to pull yer weight just like everyone else. What, ye’ve just got to know where ye stand in the ranks? Fine, here ye go. 1. Captain 2. First Mate + Doctor 3. Second Mate + Head Cook + Boatswain 4. Cook + Shipmate + Nurse 5. Deckhand
- WAGES - {Wage earnings are experimental and will likely be changed in the future!} Aye, well, s’pose I was hoping too much to think ye weren’t just in it for the free ride or the coin. Ye’ve a right to know, anyhow. There’ll be five monthly quests.. Whatever ‘monthly’ means. These’ll be set to change on the first of every ‘month’, and every reported thread- with another cat, mind you, not a ‘SRP’, whatever that is- in which ye complete one of these quests with a minimum of ten replies will earn ye that quest’s amount of gold. Some examples are as such: HAVE AN INCREDIBLY AWKWARD CONVERSATION WITH A CREWMATE - 5 GOLD ATTEMPT TO CATCH A FISH - 2 GOLD THOROUGHLY MISINTERPRET A CREWMATE - 2 GOLD SEE SOMETHING OMINOUS IN THE SHADOWS (IT’S A PILE OF CRATES) - 2 GOLD DO YOUR JOB ON THE SHIP - 5 GOLD - TERMINOLOGY - Well, ye've right got the vocabulary of a land-legs, with that attitude. Alright, settle down. 'Ere's a guide for ye, though I'll right soon have t' add more. TIDE-SET - The tide cycles in the world of Maritime are much longer, stretching one week- the full cycle is a tide-set, and four tide-sets are a month. GOLD - The currency of the world of the Maritime! They can be used to purchase unique items and accessories at different islands. LAND-LEGS - A mild insult meaning a non-sailing cat. Living mainly at harbors and shores, as a vast majority of the planet and economy is in the water, these include artisans, musicians, orchard-tenders, and anyone who's got no business on a boat. BOSUN - Shortened form of Boatswain. Informal. - FAQ - There'll be more to be revealed, o'course. I've been told to say.. ask any questions ye have in the 'comments?' They'll be answered if they're not revealing anythin' too juicy, and Faerry'll post th' most common ones here. {Feel free to run character concepts by me to see if they would fit into the world as well! Keep in mind that there are no humans in this world, and most cats live in closely-knit harbor villages!}
