I am sorry to say that the Mario game I've been teasing will never be finished. My skill in coding has improved a lot since last year, but this project is far too outdated for me to continue working on it. So click the green flag, watch out for bugs, and have fun. Controls: Menu: Use W and S to select an option. Press space to start the game. (Secret modes: Press T or L on the title screen.) Gameplay: Player one uses WASD to move -tap S quickly to shoot fireballs (as Fire Mario) Player two uses arrow keys to move -tap the down key quickly to shoot fireballs (as Fire Luigi) Either players can mash their respective keys quickly when inside a bubble to move your bubble towards the other player -press E to enter/exit editor mode Some warnings: -the last five items in the editor are not finished -although you can create pipes, there is no way for Mario and Luigi to travel between areas -Toad (press T on title screen) is not finished and in many cases cannot do things that Mario and Luigi can Save code forum: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/818724/
Update: August 23, 2025 I have made visible a feature I had forgotten to mention earlier. Press L on the title screen to play as Mario, accompanied by an AI-controlled Luigi. This feature was originally meant to mimic the Super Guide feature from the New Super Mario Bros. series, but instead of Luigi beating the level FOR you, he would complete it WITH you. It was also just a fun feature to make. Some history: I don't remember when I started this game, but I know that I've been trying to make Mario games since I've started Scratch. This project will be my fourth (or fifth) attempt, and sadly, I've decided to give up on it forever, just like all the Mario games before it. This isn't my first game to fall victim to feature creep, and I doubt it will be the last. Since I wasted so much time working on unnecessary features, I forgot all the important Mario features, like being able to climb inside of pipes and the score counter. But, of the features this game does have, here I'll list my favourites: -simultaneous multiplayer -mega mushrooms and mini mushrooms -the colourful graphics and Mario Maker themes -water, lava, quicksand and poison -specific character abilities -the editor As you can see, I spent a lot of time on things that were never in the game originally. I hope I've learned my lesson for next time. If there ever is a next time...
