-Disclaimer- I am not an expert, and my word is not law. Everyone’s alter or nonhuman experience is different. This is not meant to be a guide. Also, please note that while I have titled this Podcast a “Therian” Podcast it will be centered around all of alter and non-humanity. - Intro - Hello! My name is Galixy and in this first episode of My Therian Podcast we are going to talk about what a therian is and some identities that may sound the same but are actually quite different! - What is a therian or otherkin? - A therian or otherkin is someone who involuntarily, or without choosing to, identifies as a non-human animal or being in some form! This could be spiritually, by believing they had a past life or the soul of a creature. Psychologically, by having the thought processes more similar to that creature. Behaviorally, by behaving more like their therio-or-kintype. Instinctually, which is where they have instincts more similar to their therio-or-kintype. Culturally, where their identity may have been passed on for generations. Or even physically. There are a lot of different physical identities with different meanings and definitions so if you are interested in that please let me know in the comments. - What about otherlink? - Being otherhearted differs greatly from therianthropy and otherkinnity as it is no longer an identity. You no longer feel like you are that animal or being, you simply feel connected to it. You no longer identify as it, you identify with it. This connection can impact who you are and can feel like a close friendship or family bond. - And finally, what is an otherpaw? - Otherpaws are commonly mistaken as therians or otherkin because they take part in activities that the media has associated with alter and nonhumanity. Otherpaw’s commonly wear gear like masks and tails and take part in activities like quadrobics and vocals. Something to keep in mind is that otherpaws don’t identify as or with animals, it is simply a hobby! - Outro - Please keep in mind that this is just barely scratching the surface of alter-and-nonhumanity and that there are many subcategories and greater umbrellas. If you have any questions or ideas for future episodes, please let me know in the comments.
