Ok but fr tho, it is. For those who don't know, there was a project on the explore page with a thumbnail that didn't quite meet the Community Guidelines. (inappropriate images, iykyk) Thankfully I didn't witness it for myself, but a ton of scratchers have been taking abt it, so now it's my turn to throw my hat into the ring. (I think that's what that phrase means) First things first, I don't think ST was at fault for what happened. They might have to an extent, since they were the ones who made the algorithm, but it's not like they CHOSE to let it happen. Again, the explore page is run by an algorithm. A glitchy algorithm that gets taken advantage of, yes, but an algorithm nonetheless. The ST isn't the cause of every single problem with Scratch, despite what some ppl think. Even with all that defense, I'm still disappointed w/ how long it took for ST to take it off of the explore page. I don't know what was going on behind the scenes, but they HAD to have kept in mind that this is a website built for ages 8 and up, and the longer it stays on the page, more and more kids are gonna see that. Due to all of this, I've seen scratchers who are taking a break from Scratch, or even considering leaving Scratch forever. The last thing I want is for this website to die off, because it means a lot to me, and I'm sure many people agree. So how do we stop this from happening again? Well, there's not that much that WE, scratchers, can do, but we should tell ST to change the algorithm for the explore page/trending page so it's based on things like general popularity and such, rather than things like how many tags are in the description. I don't expect this to get changed right away, but I really hope that the explore page's algorithm at LEAST gets changed in the 4.0 update, which is coming pretty soon. (I think this year or next year.) In conclusion, look at What the Community is Loving/Remixing if you want to see what's actually trending. See ya! And also the second batch of PFPs is coming very soon, I only have to do one more!!! (PFP requests are closed)
