Michaela ran through the thick forest, music playing in her ears. She ignored the plants and wildlife and ran like she was being chased. She wasn't, though. Michaela just needed to get away. Away from her mom. Away from her brother. And especially away from her thoughts. Her mind kept drifting to Anton. Why he was so weird. How he always found her. How he teleported the first time they met. She just had question upon question but couldn't muster the courage to talk to him for more than five minutes. She finally reached a small pond with a willow tree and flowers surrounding it. Michaela dropped a blue blanket and sat on it. She turned her music off and listened to the small pond. It made little noise, but still she found it relaxing. Michaela laid down, closed her eyes, and tried to calm her racing mind. Mom is in another fit. Granny is off to see relatives in a couple days. David is never around. Daisy and Anya stopped replying to texts. And stupid Anton kept following her around. She felt so alone. The only person who seems to have any interest in her is Anton. "Why Anton? Why?" she mumbled. "Why what?" Michaela jolted up and swung her head to find the person who spoke. Anton was sitting high up in the willow tree, watching her. "What are you doing! Watching me like a creep?" Michaela was almost shouting. "I was merely sitting in silence till you came and plopped yourself on the ground." Anton replied coolly. "Oh, uh..." "Will you answer my question?" he asked. "What question?" "You asked, 'why Anton why', so I asked 'why what'. If you answer that then I'll answer yours." "I was just..." Should she tell him the truth? Why not. "You are the only person paying attention to me recently. I've been kinda feeling lonely. So I was wondering why you were paying me any attention." Michaela answered. "Oh." Anton looked up to the sky. "Now you answer mine?" Michaela said hesitantly. "Right yes. I pay attention to you because you remind me of someone. It has been many years since I last saw her, and you seem like the spitting image of her." He said. "Another Furitiv? Is that why you knew my last name?" "Yes." "What was her name?" Michaela asked. He paused, looked at Michaela, then past her, into the woods. "Maria." he whispered. Michaela could barely hear the word. Maria. "I don't know any Maria's. Or any Furitiv named Maria." "Like I said, it was a long time ago." Anton's eyes looked glossy. His face suddenly became very pale, almost ghost like. Michaela's eyes widened as he fell from the tree. She ran to his side. "Anton? What happened?" He was unconscious. Michaela slapped his face. Once. Twice. Three times until his eyes opened. He jolted up and looked at Michaela wide eyed. A smile curved on his lips. "What just happened and why are you smiling?" Michaela looked at Anton like he was crazy. His smile widened as he spoke. "I saw her." his face looked lovestricken. "Wh-what?" Suddenly the joy from his face faded as he realized who he was with. He stood up and turned to walk away. "I'm sorry I disturbed your peace. I'll leave. Uh goodbye? Yes. Goodbye." His walk turned to a run and before Michaela could call, he was almost invisible in the forest coverage. Michaela stared in the direction Anton left in for some time before packing up. She had come to clear her head, but now it was spinning faster than ever. What was wrong with that boy?
