This is my first fanfiction! It is about a member of the Yiga Clan named Keina, and takes place during BotW. (It might have a little violence later in the series, but I don't know yet.) I THINK I GAVE UP ON THIS, BUT IF YOU WANT ANOTHER, TELL ME! ******************************************************************** I don’t know exactly why I did it. Joined the Yiga Clan, I mean. Some of the cause definitely had to do with my parents- they wanted me to stay in Hateno village and become a florist or shopkeeper or something else just as boring. But that sort of life had never appealed to me, and so I ran away, leaving home with a few rupees to travel the world. I wanted so badly to have an adventure; To climb the Hebra mountains, and view the majestic waterfalls of Zora’s domain. Reality turned out to be quite different. Things started out well, at least after I caught a wild horse. I had traveled on its back for days, until I reached the Gerudo Desert. After spending almost all my money on a heat resistant elixir, I chugged it like my life depended on it — which, to be fair, it kind of did — and started trudging through the desert, where the blazing warmth hit me like a wall. I set off slowly, taking my time, and gazing in awe at the bright Voltfruit and the cloudless sky. I had wandered off the beaten path, and when the sun set, I found myself lost in an almost alien world. The frigid air sapped my strength, and soon I collapsed to the ground, certain that I would freeze to death. I curled up into a ball, and let myself drift off to sleep. A panicked voice and a firm hand on my arm shook me awake. After blearily opening my eyes, I beheld a tall figure kneeling in front of me, still jostling my shoulder. “Good, you’re all right,” She said, sighing in relief. “My name is Ren- I can help you get to shelter. If I hadn’t found you, well, you probably would not have survived the night.” Ren held out her hand to me, and I used it to pull myself up onto my feet. She beckoned for me to follow, and set off at a brisk pace. Even though my teeth were chattering, I forced myself to walk after her. As my eyes adjusted to the faint moonlight, I beheld Ren’s odd outfit. She wore a bright red bodysuit, and her face was hidden behind a strange mask. “Wait-” I reached out, grabbing her arm. “You’re a member of the Yiga Clan, aren’t you?” Even in Hateno Village, I had heard whispers and rumors about the Yiga Clan and the destruction they brought on Hyrule. Ren paused walking, placing her hands on her hips. “Is this really the time to get into this conversation? Complain later, freeze less- we made it .” She pointed to a door set into the canyon wall. “Why are you taking me here?” I asked fearfully. Ren sighed. I imagined that behind the mask she was rolling her eyes. “I’m going to enlist you into the Yiga Clan. Don’t give me that look. I might not like it, but the fact is that you can only come in if you are a member, and if you don’t come in, I have to leave you out here in the desert, miles from civilization.” Stepping forward, Ren knocked on the door. It slid upward into the surrounding cliff like the mouth of a monster about to swallow me. She grabbed my hand, and together we stepped inside. In hindsight, joining a secret (and potentially evil) cult probably wasn’t my smartest move. But then again, neither was wandering into the desert with no map, no plan, and just five rupees to my name.
In case you are wondering why I picked the title, it is because it sounded dramatic :-). And no, I did not make the background image, I got it off Chat GPT (because my digital art skills are questionable at best). The story is completely original!
