The Mississippi locomotive This historic 1836 locomotive is likely the first in the state and was used by both Confederate and Union forces during the Civil War. It was restored in the 1880s and operated until it was donated to the Illinois Central Railroad.It later appeared in the 1893 and 1933 Chicago World's Fairs and was eventually displayed at the Museum of Science and Industry.The locomotive was sold in 2015 and is now at the Three Rivers Rambler railway in Knoxville, Tennessee, where it is undergoing cosmetic restoration. free to use with credit MY HOME STATES FIRST EVER STEAM ENGINE!
