The next time Michaela saw Anton, his face was ashen. She was in class, looking out the window, when she saw him. He wandered in the courtyard of her school, his steps wobbly. Michaela raised her hand. "Yes, Miss Furitiv?" Mrs. Gonella looked at Michaela. "Can I go to the bathroom?" "Yes. Be quick." Michaela bolted out of the room and ran straight for the courtyard. She went up to him. Anton was shaky and cold. Michaela brought him to a seat inside the school and gave him some water. "Are you okay? What's going on, Anton? Are you hurt?" She bombarded him with questions. He opened his mouth as if to speak, then closed it again. "What's wrong? Anton, tell me!" Anton's eyes close,d and Michaela shook him, trying to get him to wake up. But he doesn't. "I need to get the nurse." Michaela stood up and ran towards the nurse's office. She got there, and a young lady with blond hair tied in a bun was reading a book. "Hello!" The woman said as Michaela came in. "What do you need?" Michaela's words came out in gasps. "Boy. Hurt. Need. Help. Come. Please." Michaela heaved out. The woman stood. "Where?" Michaela waved for her to follow and ran again. Michaela couldn't think straight. What if the fall did this? Or maybe he drank something weird. What if he dies? I just got to know more about him! He is a little weird, making things up, but I don't care! He's nice to me! As Michaela was deep in thought, they reached the spot where Michaela had brought Anton, but he wasn't there. "Anton?" Michaela called. "Miss, is this a joke to you?" She asked sternly. "No! There was a boy, his name is Anton Jeriv, he goes to this school, I think. He was super pale and cold, and shaky. I brought him over here and his eyes closed, and he wouldn't wake up so I got you! I swear he is real!" Michaela blurted. "I'll check the student directory for his name. Now, what is your name?" "Michaela Furitiv..." Michaela mumbled. "Well, Michaela, you should get to class." The nurse said. "But Anton! I have to find him." "No. Go to class. If he could walk away, he is fine." Michaela slowly walked back to class. She couldn't go against faculty orders. She'll just have to find him during lunch. In Michaela's next class, the headspeakers call her name. "Miss Michaela Furitiv to the Principal's office please." it said. "You'd better go, Michaela." The teacher looked at her and pointed toward the door. Michaela walked to the Principal's office. Why was she in trouble? Or did they find Anton? Is he okay? When she walked into the office, the only person in the room was Principal Abrams. "Michaela, please have a seat." He said. Michaela sat down. "Do you know why you're here?" Michaela shook her head. "You lied to Nurse Frisht." "No, I didn't!" Michaela said. Principal Abrams glanced at her. "Your mother was called. She should be here soon. Why did you lie, Michaela?" "I didn't lie! Anton was hurt or something. He looked sick, and I thought it might've been from his fall the other day." "There is no one in this school named Anton Jeriv." He said. "What? I thought... I guess he never said he went to this school. But then why was he here this morning?" "I think you made it up." Principe Abrams declared. "Why would I make this up? I wouldn't purposely get in trouble!" Michaela raised her voice. "You lied because you could. You passed the nurse's office, saw Nurse Frisht, and decided to play a prank." "I wouldn't do that!" Michaela said. "Do what?" Her mother walked into the room. "Ms. Furitiv! Thank you for coming. It has come to my attention that your daughter lied to a nurse at the school to play a prank, at a time when she should have been in class." "I didn't lie! Anton was sick." "Who is Anton?" Michaela's mother turned to her. "Someone I met the other day." Michaela mumbled. "Your daughter said he goes to this school, but there is no Anton Jeriv in the directory." Ms. Furitiv glanced daggers at her daughter. "I am deeply sorry for my daughter's actions. You can grant whatever punishment you think is deserved, please know she will be punished at home as well." "Suspended for three days." Principal Abrams said without a pause. "Suspension?" Michaela looked at him like he was crazy. "I see. Thank you for telling me this, Principal Abrams. I'll take my daughter home."
