Dekota Is a poly-therian like many others in overwhelming community who was awakened in January of 2024. there theriotypes are Puma, Coyote, Border Collie, marble fox, European badger, Andean Mountain Cat, AardWolf, and Night/light fury all of these theriotypes are confirmed and embraced by Koda . in addition to being a proud therian they are also a furry walking paw in paw with there fursona Plado! (Protogen). a major and important moment in Kodas life was being awaken to his theriotypes as well as transitioning to his true gender. and to be honest Dekota said it the best anyone could; in his own words. “Like with everyone, your identity is something that can massively change over time, and with me it certainly has. Awakening as a therian was something that filled in those little gaps in my life. For example, the majority (all of my theriotypes except one) are male. As someone who originally identified as a cis female, finding out these little details didn’t make me afraid to actually step outside of the gender I was born into. I now identify as a trans male” a major challenge they faced like so many others was coming out to there family about there beliefs and Hobby’s (fur suit making, mask making etc). not only did Dekota feel the judgment from his family it was voiced. they recall there grandfather calling them a “weird kid” just for there hobbies despite not even caring to under stand the meaning. and for them there grandfather was someone they looked up to and to them this broke there heart. through this impossible thicket of problems Dekota found the truest thing they could; friends. as Dekota said there self they found the true meaning of friendship. with the undying support of his friends (online and virtual) he gathered enough courage to talk to there parents about there “weird” Hobby’s and crafts. after explain the furry community and beliefs of therianopy they felt more at home. by the end of this crisis there mom eventually began to take a larger role in the furry community making Koda feel more at home with those who he loved. Dekota shared with me that one of there most heartwarming experiences was actually at a convention. KODA said at there very first convention they met so many kind friendly and playful therian’s and furry’s alike. for them this was a milestone after the bumpy road they experienced with there family. this experience made them more comfortable in there skin and made them feel more welcome even if they are “out of the normal” or “strange” they know they have friends and family who love and except them to Koda there most memorable adventure isn’t physical or mental. it was an adventure of connection. During my interview with isn’t they explained how they feel there greatest adventure was there adventure in getting to know and feel comfortable with there friend abyss. this is an adventure I think so many people n this community can go on building bonds with others in this community
