A tabby with stripes like charcoal and fur like the night, Elderflower was the sole heir to House Sprig. With their elegance bringing a new light to each event swim attended, many cats tried to win Elderflower's favor. But the tabby didn't relent, claiming swim heart to only be for the one who could travel to the Frosted Plains, the farthest region from the capital of the Kingdom, and retrieve the Ice Mouse." Nona smiled, licking Mari's nose to keep the kit awake. "Who was the other cat, Nona? The other famous cat?" "That would be Snapdragon; the trickiest thief from a small village, barely inside the Kingdom of Vines. Hy had golden fur that glowed in the sun, stripes like a viper, and a white underbelly like a warning sign. Star skill was like no other, Snapdragon could swipe anything hy decided." Mari blinked. "...Like you, Nona?" Her Grandparent chuckled. "I'm no thief, if that's what you're trying to suggest, Marigold." "Anyways, when Snapdragon heard of the offer, that any cat who could retrieve the mystical Ice Mouse could claim a favor from Elderflower, Star knew exactly what to do. Hy needed that favor, for Star mother was sick, and House Sprig had the most medical knowledge in the Kingdom of Vines." Nona took a shaky breath, yawning. "Maybe I should end the story tonight, Marigold." Alarmed, the small kit shot up. "Wait! Did Snapdragon ever get the Ice Mouse and save star mother? Please, Nona, I have to know!" Nona shook hys head, sighing. "It's getting very late, Marigold." The kit stared at the old golden tabby, before looking away and sighing. "...alright." Appa padded up to the duo, blinking at Marigold. "Was Nona telling you a story?" The kit nodded, huffing. "And now Nona won't finish it! I have to know if Snapdragon manages to get the Ice Mouse or not!" Appa was taken slightly off guard, their blue-grey fur proofing out in shock, though the old cat quickly smoothed it out. "Well, I'm sure Nona needs rest. Hy has a lot of fun with you, Marigold, but you have lots of energy, and Nona is an old, old cat." This earned a glare from the golden tabby. "Awh, alright. I'll go sleep..." Mari sighed, blinking at her grandparents. "...Could you tell me the rest of the story tomorrow, Nona?" "Oh, of course, Marigold," Nona purred. "I'll tell you just how Snapdragon stole the Ice Mouse from underneath the Greater Hoard's whiskers!"
