!!! WARNING !!! Please note that the series as a whole will contain some violence, but nothing too graphic. Also a bit of Zelink lol. As a whole I'd probably say 10+, but this chapter specifically does not include any of that stuff, only some minor suspense/fear :b EDIT: I changed up the desc for Zelda because it seemed a bit too unrealistic -_- hopefully it's better now but idrk. --------------------------------------------------------------- Hello there! I know I haven't posted anything on this account before this and that I've tried writing a LoZ fanfic before and it didn't work out, but I have a good feeling about this one (I think)! Welcome to my newest and somehow planned out story, Forgotten Light! Follow the long lost Princess of Hyrule, as well as the heroic ex-Dark Knight with a great destiny, as they unravel their mysterious pasts and fight against the evil King Ganondorf Dragmire. Many friends, foes, and mysteries await, but in the end it is up to Link and Zelda alone to save the once great kingdom of Hyrule. I hope you enjoy this story lol, and have fun reading. Without further ado, let's begin! --------------------------------------------------------------- It was the middle of the night, and the air was cold and dark. Rain was falling swiftly, obscuring the view even further and creating mist that covered the ground in shifting patches. It fed the lush green grass of the Trilby Plain generously, making the ground slick with rainwater. Sitting humbly near the bank of Zelo Pond, a little building was seen. Very little noise was heard inside except for the occasional whisper of a child who couldn’t sleep. For this was, indeed, an orphanage. The caretakers who resided inside this quaint building were all pleasant people, friendly and kind to the orphans that lived there. However, they were all rather subdued, all fearful of the same terror that had spread across Hyrule for the past 16 years– King Ganondorf. So, as nice as they were, the orphanage was a quiet place, almost depressing if looked at through the right lens. Growing up in the orphanage all her life, Zelda believed it to be her home. She was a determined, intelligent young girl who had to be around fifteen years of age. With pretty, long, golden blonde hair and emerald green eyes, Zelda radiated an almost regal energy. She was always stuck in her books or disconnected from the rest of the world, though she was still deep down a kind soul. Also, though she found comfort within the walls of the humble little building she had grown up in, she would sometimes get restless, as if there was something greater waiting out there for only her to find. However, she didn't really have a choice to leave, as she was still too young. So instead she made the most of it and helped out around the place, assisting her caretakers in their tasks graciously. Tonight she was sleeping soundly in her bed, having fallen asleep after a long day while still wearing her simple daytime dress and her hair styled with two crown braids. Long locks fell in front of her ears, and the whole look was quite pretty. Not that she’d notice, though. Suddenly, unexplained and unexpectedly, a harsh knock sounded on the wooden door at the entrance to the building. With a start, one of the caretakers went to meet whomever was at the door this late at night. She was startled when she saw who they were. “King Ganondorf’s most esteemed knights!” the caretaker exclaimed, her face paling. The orphanage had been expecting the annual checkup Ganondorf sent to all corners of the world to make sure everything was in order, but that usually came around midday and by soldiers instead of the Dark Knights. “How may we assist you?” The knights huffed at the trembling woman, pushing her aside. “We have no use for the likes of you,” snarled one of the four who came, his eyes full of malice. “Get out of our way so we can search this wretched place.” Still shaking, the caretaker nodded, utterly petrified. With a grunt the knights moved in, heading straight for the children’s quarters. “W-wait, sir, the children…” The poor woman trailed off when she saw the looks of hate on their faces. Her knees wobbled with pure fright. Then, after a moment of scared, uninterrupted silence, the Dark Knights pushed the door open and walked inside. --------------------------------------------------------------- First: You're here!
