PROLOGUE (idea for first draft)

**read notes and credits before u read the story below** | | V V My breath came out quick and shallow as I dashed through the trees, head pounding, heart racing. The dead pines on the forest floor felt like knifes stabbing into my raw, bare feet, I just needed to get away from that-that THING. Tears streamed down my face, "Oh Deloris!" The beast called my name from somewhere right behind me, I used to think of her voice as being soft and sweet, but now, beneath the innocent high pitched voice, is a deep, menacing demon-like sound. "Leave me alone!" I screeched, pushing harder into the forest as panic started to take hold. "Oh Deloris," The deadly harmonic voice rang in my ears, "None of this would be happening if you just decided to stay with me!" Her voice ended in an ear-splitting scream and the the next thing I know, she pounced on me. I screamed as she slammed my head into the earth so hard I felt dizzy. She tied up my ankles and wrists and threw me to the ground with unnatural strength I cried out in pure horror and pain and when I open my eyes, I see her once soft brown eyes, glowing blood red. She dragged me into a clearing in the middle of the forest rather roughly and dropped me on my back, I groaned and cried and she kicked the side of my head hard, pain seized hold of me and black engulfed the edges of my vision, "Deloris." She said as she started circling me, laying down sand and rocks around be. "This is all for the best." Once she seemed to be done she picked up a large hardcover book from the side and cleared her throat, about to speak, I knew whatever she was going to do to me wouldn't be any good, I turned my head weakly to her, tears making my vision blurry, "What'd I do?" I whispered, my voice shaking, She snapped her head up, her red eyes ablaze, "You betrayed me."' She snapped, "You left me." My eyes widened, this is a misunderstanding! If I could just explain to her the whole story, she'll let me go right? "I would never! I'm so sorry I didn't text you! My phone broke earlier that day a-and I didn't know where you were! I won't EVER leave you! I promise!" "That's the thing about human psychology, humans lie." She started to pace, "There is only one way I know you won't leave me forever and that's right here in this book! Everyone in my life has abandoned me and I know it's just a matter of time before you do to Deloris! I'm doing what's best for both of us." And before I could say anything else, she started reciting Latin words from her book and I watched in pure horror as wind started picking up around me and she began to suspend into the air, the words she said grew louder, and louder and I screamed as pain took hold of my entire body as I began to change shape. A huge flash of light blinded me and then, it was over. I lay in the center, unable to move, she walked up to me, her body back to it's normal form and smiled down at me, showing me her book, "Humano tible pupa" I remembered from my Latin class that "humano" meant "human" and tible meant "to" when referring to a person. But I could never remember pupa... I remember having that on a test last week, I quickly searched my memory for any lesson on that word but it seemed like all my memories were fading one by one, the more I looked at it, the foggier my mind gets. Then it hit me just like that, pupa was indeed in Latin, I started in horror at the revaluation of what I have become, what she had turned me into. Pupa is the Latin term for doll.
