[reshared from @TweetyBurd] . ˖ ✦ ‧₊˚ ⋅ Once the air you breathe has been corrupted And the effects of the poison you drink appear as day When emotion is of use no more Just as the heart you call yours is no longer your own And in your thoughts, you hear the voice of another Among dozens of pairs of eyes over you, A pair of wings will carry you Carry you to a land of paradoxes A land time has no control of, Yet everything flashes by as if in an instant their lives would be over A land where everything is free to fly, Yet held down by their own ambitions A land where the more needs to happen The less is done It is in this land of wings and riddles That you will find what is left of me. . ˖ ✦ ‧₊˚ ⋅ General Backstory- After the discovery of a alien chemical an element, Earth was never really the same. It was proven to be a powerful and deadly neurotoxin, that caused a strange disease that caused with an unknown cure within the cells of the host, later dubbed The Abstraction Cancer. Despite the apparent dangers, this chemical, named Ikarite, was approved for use in everyday materials and snacks in most parts of the world. People were starting to see the changes this caused, but as it started becoming a more intergrated part of their life the harder it was to let it go. Eventually, less and less of the substance is used, but that all changes after the denotation of a superweapon during the WW4 near the center where the main mine in the world of Ikarite is. This releases so much Ikarite gas into the atmoshpere and water that it fuses into the natural ecosystem. The toxicity kills off all animal species known and more than half the human population. But the few that do remain are... different. While most humans have mutated into something beyond recognition, a very rare few have kept most of their humanity. Not only have humans changed physically, but their minds have been changes over time by the alien world as this wasn't just some deep metal element... TL;DR: Ooo cosmic alien petroleum nuke yummy Other Notes- This art was originally meant for somthing completely different but since the Battle of the Genres is due today and I didn't have my original project with me I just decided to incorporate into the lore somehow. I never really post anything unless it's for a contest anyways so this was good motivation- I'm thinking that Keeli (the butterfly gal) is one of the last humans that still look like a human. But that was due to having shared genetics with the butterflies (who were discovered to have a gene that could protect them against the Abstraction) after an expiriment that attempted to create a resistance towards the Abstraction Cancer. It worked, but at a cost. The butterflies have absorbed some of the conciousness and intelligence, while Keeli can now only think in darting thoughts that flash in and out, has short-term memory, and everything has a kind of sense of unrealness to her (she also has antennae, wings, and one particular butterfly that is attached to her left eye for whatever reason). She and her butterflies also share thoughts and actions, sometimes speaking for each other. She would away secluded from the other humans, alone in a small protected mountainous valley where Ikarite would be hard to reach and she would live forever. Or until the gang of main characters come in. Ik Team Apocalyptic really doesn't have many submissions but I hope this counts and that we can move onto the next round with our *very* small amount of participants :D Credits- Art, poem, and yapping- Song- The Seed by Aurora (one of the main theme songs for this world along with Radioactive by Imagine Dragons and TokSik by STARSET) Zoom-in Code-
