"What?!" Cedarleaf cried, "Shadowclan?!" "YES!" Coalshade yowled, "Come on!" Coalshade dashed into the forest, barely dodging trees, bushes, and rocks. The noise she was making would probably scare all of the animals around the lake but she didn't care. She sprinted towards camp with Cedarleaf right behind her. "Coalshade!" Mossflower, her mother, said, "What are you doing?" "Shadowclan's attacking! Tell Cottonstar!" "WHAT?!" Coalshade rushed to the center of camp, expecting an enormous montage of claws and screeches, but she found nothing. She sniffed the ground, not even a single scent of ShadowClan was there. A moment later, Mossflower and Cedarpelt came trotting into camp. "What attack Coalshade?" Mossflower asked, "I don't see anything here," "I thought- I thought I smelled them on the territory," Coalshade stammered. Just as she said this, the bracken rustled and a gray tabby strode into ThunderClan camp. "Yarrowleaf," Cottonstar said, dipping his head, "Welcome, what do you need?" "That's the ShadowClan medicine cat," Cedarpelt whispered, "I think you smelled him," Coalshade's ears burned hot with embarrassment, how stupid of her. How could she not smell the strong aroma of herbs lingering on the scent? "We need catmint, Cottonstar," Yarrowleaf said, "I'm afraid a few cats have gotten Whitecough," Oakflower, the white and ginger medicine cat, emerged from her den with a large bundle of catmint in her jaws. "Here," She said, "I hope your clan gets better," Coalshade felt even worse after hearing that. She had thought there was an invasion, instead, it was just a medicine cat from ShadowClan in need of help. After that, Coalshade went hunting with Cedarpelt. She was crouching, ready to pounce at a mouse. Coalshade leaped into the air but missed the mouse by several feet. "Woah," Cedarpelt said, "I've never seen you miss prey that far," "I feel so stupid!" Coalshade suddenly cried, "I thought that ShadowClan was attacking us!" "Uhh.... Well, I mean, it's kinda hard to tell I guess," Cedarpelt said. Coalshade felt a little better after that, and she went back to camp with a rabbit and a blackbird. Later that night, she was curled up in a nest when a thought suddenly struck her. "I want to be a medicine cat!" Coalshade declared.
