~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just as Charon grabbed out to me, Carmen reached into her pocket, pulled out a silver object, crushed it under her foot and we disappeared in a cloud of smoke. /POOF./ We appeared in front of a half destroyed...cereal shop? Carmen places a hand on a tree, looking pale. "Carmen, you good?" I take a step towards her. "I-I'm fine," She slides down the tree. "Just, need rest." She sighs heavily and closes her eyes. "I'll stay with her." Candice assures me. I nod and crouch by the ruble. I wooden sign says 'D’s Cereal Emporium.' "D," Jake kneels beside me. "For Demeter maybe? It's a cereal shop, after all. But where are we?" I glance up. I breathe shakily and stand up. "We're in California. One of my...half-aunts, I guess, Abby Via, told me a story about her and her friends who went on a quest, and they found a cereal shop. A minotaur attacked them." A rumbling sound came from the ground. A pile of monster dust I hadn't seen began to swirl in a mini tornado. "I'm not smart at Greek stuff, but, that is definitely not normal." Izzy had propped Carmen on her shoulder and looked at the cloud. It had formed into a minotaur. It roared and beat its chest, and looked twice the size than normal. /Cut off it's right horn./, a voice says in my head. Dad? I shake my head. I decided to follow it. I took aim and shot the arrow underneath the right horn. The minotaur roared in anger. "Who there Mini." Liz said, and Candice looked at here in confusion. "Uh, Lizzy, the minotaur doesn't li-. She was cut off as the minotaur swung his hand (hoof?) into her chest, and she flew backwards into a tree with a nasty CRACK. "CANDICE!!" Jake yelled, and my anger took over. I tossed my bow aside and unclipped my quiver. They returned to pendant form and I grabbed Jake's sword. "Hey!" "Sorry Sparky, go help your sister. The big guy's mine." I leaped at the minotaur, slashing his chest, and creating an x where a almost fully healed scar was. He grabbed at me and missed, and I landed on his back. I scrambled up to his right horn, and he tried to shake me off. "Hey, you almost impaled my girlfriend!" Jake yelled, distracting the minotaur. He looked at Jake, then tried and failed to look at me. I took this chance and swung at the horn. It flew off and I slid on his back, stabbing the sword where his heart would be. I jumped off and landed perfectly next to Jake as the monster disintegrated. "Show-off." He mumbled. "You helped." I kissed his cheek, then jogged to Carmen (who seemed fine) and Liz. Bl00d ran down Candice's face and she breathed raggedly. Jake squeezed in between us. "No no no no. Candice, don't leave me, I still need my sister." Carmen had tears in her eyes. "Jake," She rasped. "I'm always with you." She smiled and winced. I looked at her chest. A tree branch stood out. "I-I can try to heal you." "You might. But you'll probably die." She said, no sadness or pain in her voice. I may hate Candice, but she's always been like an older sister to me. Now it was my turn to care for her. I laid a hand on top of her chest, closed my eyes and summoned my power. My hand glowed with a little warmth. Soon, that little warmth grew into a blazing, gold fire that swarmed me. All my friends rushed back. I had healed an ARROW that went through Jake's shoulder, but I wasn't on 'fire.' But maybe it was because Candice was close to death, which was mostly the definition of Syd. I removed my hand to see no visible wound. I stood up, shakily and before I could fall, Jake caught me, and I heard Izzy yelling my name.
