Little may know this, but the iconic 2020 film "Stealing Pizza?! || Animation", directed by @awesomebricks1, is actually a Westernized remake of a low-budget Japanese OVA. In the original anime, a young six-fingered man with special powers decides to steal some salmon (made hibachi style) from a nearby house in an attempt to cure his boredom. However, all ends up going wrong, teaching him an important lesson. This OVA includes many homages to other pieces of Japanese pop culture, including but not limited to Dragon Ball, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Sonic X, and Street Fighter. It also references the Western cartoon Rick and Morty. The OVA received mixed reviews from audiences. Some criticized the animation for looking sloppy, comparing it to the quality of the anime parody series Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls. However, others praised its many homages to Japanese pop culture and interesting character designs. directed the localization for the original animation, notably making the character describe the salmon as "pizza" despite not changing its appearance. This move was criticized by many. Noting this, he decided to create his own reanimated adaptation of the story, properly changing the appearance of the salmon to pizza. Much of the audio was recycled from the English dub of the OVA.
