It’s midnight. I’m writing about justice for underdogs. What else is new? This was originally written to my senator, so ignore anything directed at he/she, not revealing their gender due to privacy. Animals. Bugs (yes, bugs.) That is what I would like to discuss with you. And DON’T YOU DARE SKIM THIS. All living creatures. All living, just like us. They feel pain. they feel fear. And all they want to do is live their life. Is that too much to ask? I think not! Animals and bugs cannot do the following: Think deeply like humans Grasp complex ideas Some-not all-can’t feel true, deep love And yet, based on those alone, we’ve decided their lives are worth nothing. That they’re tools. Pests. Disposables Every creature has just as much a life as any of us. Are we too lazy to notice this, and to admit what is just? “You think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like you” is a quote from Pocahontas. It is very true. Humans have a habit—an evil habit—of deciding a life only matters if it mirrors ours. C’mon! Let’s be radically loving to ALL. Love is good, and love is right. Loving will never, EVER be wrong. And my ideas may be odd to you, but I believe that they are full of love. Fostering a puppy is great!!! But true compassion is more than doing kind things when it’s obvious. It’s about seeing a an “ugly,” “nasty” animal and knowing its life is just as valid as the puppy’s. Everybody-well, almost everybody-love puppies. You would have to be seriously unhinged to hurt one. And while that’s great, it’s also normal. What isn’t normal is to have compassion on a fruit fly. And as far as I am concerned, the more love, the better. Killing because it is the easier option is evil and lazy. I’m not trying to attack you if you have ever done this. I’m simply pointing out what is wrong. If a fly comes into your house, you have two options: You can choose to murder it. Or you can take the time and effort it takes to save a life. An innocent life for a little bit of effort. With the chaos and stress of today, it can be hard to know what to do. And I’m sorry you’re stuck in the middle of this political mess. But if you want one kind, rewarding act you can do, here it is: help an animal. Maybe it’s ugly, maybe it’s a knat, maybe it’s scary. And even though same acts of kindness seem, well, small, in a world where many choose selfishness, every drop of love and patience counts. I am aware of how ridiculous and incredibly strange it must seem to meet a young girl who understands that mosquitos have a life, but the fact is simple: “EVERY creature has a life. And it’s evil to steal it.” The fact that so many people would take the easier route disgusts and quite frankly scares me. So the next time an ant is in your house, think of the young girl pouring out her thoughts into this so that maybe, just maybe, a life can be saved. I understand that mosquitos and other animals can kill humans, often by spreading diseases. But rather then gruesomely murdering every bug that gets stuck in our homes, we might as well use the things that we repeatedly claim makes us superior. Our minds. Funny how humans pride themselves on intelligence, and yet so often choose brute force over that intelligence. And I’m not talking about those sticky pads. Those are horrific. I’m talking about spraying something that repels bugs (not the stuff that is poison to earth for goodness sake) to keep them away. If only the country’s bright inventors would focus less on flying cars, and more on the evil happening every day. I know that bugs are thriving, far from endangered. But individually, they still have lives. And individuals matter. There is no word I can fine to describe my ideas then love for those who need it. Hope on board the love train Senator. You’re welcome abroad. Every single person, and every single creature is. Can I get payed for doing this? I’d do this as a job. Is this a job?
