Searchlight backed away, pushing their way through the crowd and slumped down on the couch that Izzie and Bee were sitting on. "Hey." "Yo. What happened over there? Was that Michael?" Bee's yellow-and-black striped hair glowed gold in the bright light above it, its green eyes looking sad, like they always did. "Yeah. He tried to take me back, so we roughed him up. I stabbed his shoulder." Izzie threw her arms up and her head back and let out a loud whoop. "Yes, king! He needed a good /STABBIN'./" She said that last word with such passion, it startled Searchlight. They laughed at her low-pitched voice. Bee lightly punched her shoulder. "Don't be so loud," it hissed, "you're going to attract a crowd. We don't need everyone thinking you're as messed up as Nifty." Izzie just laughed. "Yo, Feather," she called, leaning back, resting her arm over the back of the couch, "Get over here! The besties need to meet you!" "Shut up," Searchlight hissed. Feather looked at the group of three, then slowly stepped forward, becoming more confident. He'd never really met any of Searchlight's other friends. He normally stuck to their inner circle of four, Searchlight, Lav, Tori, and himself. He slid onto the couch, next to Searchlight, clearly nervous. They took his hand in a comforting gesture. "It's alright. They don't bite," they murmured in his ear, planting a little kiss on his head. Then they realized they had rhymed, and they winced. Feather blushed a little bit, then raised his free hand in a feeble attempt at a wave. "I'm Feather." Izzie just kinda stared at him, her bright green eyes shining with amusement, and Bee was silent for a second before it slammed its hands on the table and stood up, then raising its hands a little above their head. "ABSOLUTE CINEMA," it yelled. "BEE," Izzie barked, grabbing one of its hands and dragging it back down, "Jesus Christ, don't yell like that!" "I'll do whatever the hell I want, *****," it barked back, its sad eyes lighting up. "Oi, oi!" Searchlight slammed a hand on the table. "You're acting like children who swear. Calm the **** down." That shut them up. They looked at Searchlight, then at Feather, then back at Searchlight. "They're like this sometimes since their dad died. You're actually lucky you weren't around those first couple of months." "Yeah. It was bad." "You know," Feather said, gently biting his paw, "we have to start school soon. First year." Searchlight let out a loud groan. "I don't wanna," they mumbled. "Hey," Izzie pat them on the head, "take it from someone who's going into their third year, it's not that bad. You don't even learn about math or any of that ****. You have nothing to worry about. You pretty much just learn about how Heaven was wrong to not take any redeemed demons while Charlie was working hard to change things." "No math? Sick," Feather laughed, wrapping an arm around Searchlight's shoulders, rubbing his thumb over their collarbone, which made them blush. /School,/ they thought, /I wonder what it's like. I'll have to go shopping, get some outfits, school supplies.../ they let their mind wander to what they're going to have to buy and prepare for. They knew there were going to be bullies and **** like that. /Maybe I should take some self defense lessons. Angel's a pretty good fighter. I remember when he protected me while I was being 53xu4l1z3d at a club one time./ Their mind wandered from school to the way Angel had jumped in to protect them. The way they had first met Michael. He was making them uncomfortable, acting flirty and 53xu4l, even when they had asked him to stop. Soon his friends had joined him and the group had them pinned against a wall. They hadn't fully developed their powers back then, and they didn't want to kill anyone, so they couldn't do anything. But then Angel flew in out of nowhere and fought off five insanely good fighters on his own. Soon, someone called their name, and they realized they hadn't been paying attention to the conversation. They were all staring at them. Lav and Tori had come back, too. "Huh? Sorry, I was lost in thought." "Are you a visual reader?" Lav asked, a certain sparkle in his eyes. "Uh... yeah." "Okay. I'm gonna send you a link, read it." Their phone buzzed. They pulled it out of their pocket, clicking on the link. And they read the most questionable smut fanfiction they had ever laid their eyes on. "OH GOD."
