BEFORE YOU READ: This project is soley about the griffpatcher community. So if you aren't one, then I wouldn't read. This is going to be a long rant about griffpatching and spam, so be prepared as you read along. I'm basically just brain dumping. Before we begin, I would like to get some things out of the way. Yes, griffpatching has been going downhill. Yes, I am one of the only OG's left anymore. Yes, we miss our old friends who got banned. Yes, it's unfair. But there's not much we can do about ST banning our friends, in justice or not. We can't reopen comments ourselves, either ST or Griffpatch himself has to do that. Many people try to pin the blame on ST for griffpatching problems lately, but I think that us, as the griffpatchers and the affected community, have played a part in the downfall. I would like to start by talking about myself and my griffpatching experience. I first griffpatched in September 2022, while at a rest stop driving to another state. I did this on one of my REALLY old accounts, but didn't make my first account @Radien_shogxn until November 9th, 2022. I made the account with Shrimp in science class, and started commenting more on griffpatch. I made a lot of good friends and cool people, and thought it was an awesome community. However, a few evenings of griffpatching later, Sir General P had made a spam attack. And suprisingly, most of the time, the griffpatchers managed to delete the spam accounts themselves and continue commenting. And on the rare occasion comments got closed, they were always open by morning. I roleplayed on that account for a while as Radien Shogun until I decided to move to @--venti, one of my best-known accounts. I started griffpatching even more (extremely active) in spring 2023, which is where I met people like Yeasty and the now-spammer Fraulien, and i'm still friends with both of them. Around that time there was also the trollface trend, and the community thrived with SGP gone. However, he did come back with more friends like SGT, but after uncovering who they were, SGP left spamming and SGT--better known as Tele--started griffpatching. Things went on for a while longer, with more friends made and I moved accounts A LOT. But then happened 11/19, which I consider the start of the downfall of griffpatching. If you don't know, 11/19 is when the comments got closed for multiple days due to griffpatchers being freaky and shipping each other. You might think that's not a long time, but it had never been closed for so long. After that, griffpatchers just came and left faster than ever, and even I got inactive. I officially moved to this account in early 2024, and I eventually got bored with the drier comments and constant spam and closures and went on a prolonged semi-hiatus from griffpatching. But I came back at the start of 2025, and chatted on the rare occasion comments were actually open. But at this point, they were closed so often that people went to evacuation studios, and most notably, wawapatchers. This leads us to where we are now. Griffpatching has been deteriorating for over a year and a half now. People always say "It's because of the spam getting comments shut off!" or "ST bans people and doesn't help with spam!" And I won't disagree. But you have to keep in mind the role we had to play in this. Griffpatchers used to report spam and keep comments from getting shut off. But we stopped doing that. People just leave and let it get spammed, just to complain later without doing anything. Not to mention, the communtiy is toxic. People keep saying inappropriate things too, and it makes the experience uncomfortable instead of lighthearted and silly. The demographic for griffpatching is older now however, so I can see why. I think that scratch isn't the right site for us to use anymore. The moderation isn't good at all. And I think that most griffpatchers would prefer a site for older kids and teens to use instead. (Like Pixil) So at that, I think griffpatching is basically dead. We've lost our purpose and fundamentals. We lost the reason why we started. We lost many of our friends. We don't even comment at griffpatch anymore. If we don't comment there, then we aren't griffpatchers, we are left nameless. However, I think that once it's dead for good, the spammers will stop spamming a dead community. And maybe that would leave a perfect space for a newer community to grow. I know I'm a bit of a nerd about this, but in Honkai Impact lore, they live in a world with the Honkai, which is essentailly this mysterious force that eventually destroys earth and resets it. I think that grifftopia will have a reset of sorts. Even if it's brief. I love griffpatching. I really do. But all good things must come to an end. I love the memories I made here, I love what it used to be. But I think its time for a new site, a new name. A new era for us. So let's move on.
