Hadley dreams of seeing her mom again one day, so every day she writes a letter to her in her journal, telling her how life is going. At school, Hadley is bullied for being a "nerd," and over time, life becomes too overwhelming. She falls into depression, and on her birthday, she decides to end her life. Her dad is devastated. While cleaning Hadley's room for the funeral, he finds her journal. He notices a message on the front that says it's only for her mom, so he doesn't read it. Instead, he invites Hadley's mom to the funeral. When she arrives, he gives her the journal. Later, when Hadley's mom is back home, she sits on her bed and begins reading the journal.
