"RING" My alarm clock blared into my ears. I groaned weakly shifting in my bed, the sound repeated, again and again. My alarm just pulled me out of a marvelous dragon dream shift where I was flying over a beautiful, green forest. I could see as far as the littered pines on the forest floor, and smell the sweet sap from the trees. "Blossom!" My mother's voice boomed up to me, somehow louder than the blare of my alarm clock. "Come downstairs! It may be the last day of school but I'm not allowing you to be late!" -right-I though, a deep sigh erupting from me-school-I'm a junior in highschool and I wish it would stay that way "I'm up!" I yowled back, pushing myself to my feet, stumbling as I stand, "RING, RING..." I grabbed my phone from my night stand and pressed "stop" at the bottom to end the god-awful noise that woke me. I set my phone back down and trudged over to my door, clicking it shut. I then walk to my dresser to pick my clothes for the day, tight back t-shirt and green cargo shorts. I pull out tall black and white striped socks and put on my clothes for the day. When I finished getting dressed, I drowsily walked to the door, opened it, and walked across the hallway into the bathroom. One look in the mirror and a feeling of dysphoria washed over me, this time, my hamster theriotype. I fantasized being that creature instead of what I am. I pushed down the thought and grabbed my hairbrush to calm my crazy short brown hair. I have 3 kintypes, black dragon, hamster, and tuxedo cat. I can never get a break. One minute I'm sad I'm not a hamster, the next I'm in a cat mental shift chasing the light in my room, the next minute, I feel huge wings on my back that aren't there. Once I was done getting ready, I slowly walked across the brown carpet hallway to the stairs. I stopped just before the first step down, taking a slow deep breath, preparing myself for the people downstairs. My mother isn't exactly excepting of the idea of therianthropy. I haven't told her what I am but she found my gear a few weeks ago and since then, every day has been degrading comments about furies (My mom doesn't know what a therian is) and in order to not be the target, I have to just go with it. Once I feel prepared enough, I begin to descend down the steps. I walked 7 steps down before I hit hardwood. I walked across the hall and into the kitchen and dining room, grabbing some cereal from the cupboard and serving myself a bowl. I then set it down at the table and begin to eat. Soon after, mom and my little brother Sam (7th grade) walk down. "Finally up?" Mom asks as she walks into the kitchen, "Mom, it's 7." I said, slightly confused as to why that's considered late, "Yes but Sam starts school early today so we're leaving in 15 minutes." My eyes go wide and I finish up my breakfast as fast as I can. I have my drivers license, but the only problem; I don't have the money for a car and mom made it very clear she is not buying me one. I decided last summer that today, I'd go to school in my gear in hopes to find any therian or otherkin friends. I don't really have many friends at school, almost the entire school calls me a furry and my one and only friend isn't necessarily a therian supporter either, Kayla just likes me enough not to care. Once I finish my cereal, I quickly rinse the dishes off and sloppily load them into the dishwasher. I run to the stairs and canter up them and across the hallway. Once I got to my room, I laughed to myself that I forgot to go back onto 2 legs. I pad over to my backpack and load my gear inside; a fuzzy black and white cat mask, a black and white tail, and black paw gloves, all made from scratch. I carefully loaded them into my backpack and by the time I was sure none of them were going to get ruined, My mom called to me from downstairs, "Blossom!" She yelled, "We're leaving! Let's go!" "Coming!" I called back, throwing my backpack over my shoulders. Once I got downstairs, I slipped on my black tennis shoes and ran into the garage and slid into the backseat of mom's small black truck. Mom opened the garage and pulled the truck out silently. 15 minutes later, we arrived at Sam's middle school, Sam hopped out of the front seat and slammed it shut. Then, another 10 minutes later, we made it, Willow Creak high school. I felt a flutter of butterflies in my stomach. This was it. I was supposed to go out there, and gear up all day. That's how I make therian friends. I took a deep breath and opened the door, and walked out into the almost empty entrance to the school. The "doorway" was a huge arch with the words "Willow Creak High" on the top. A Knot formed in my stomach as I got closer to the entrance, once mom leaves, I'm putting this mask and tail on. I walked slowly into the school, swallowing down my nerves, I brought my gear here for a reason. I'm going to follow through with this. Once I get inside the arch, I steer right and gently set my bag down on the bench, unzipping the large pocket.
