⠀⠀⠀⠀"Steve, you shouldn't have to do this," Mum said as she and I sat on the bed, watching Dad put his old suit back on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"But I do, Peggy," he sighed, sounding so tired. He had already done so much in the future. This wasn't fair. Why did he have to go? "I have protect you, all three of you." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Dad..." I stood up and followed him as he went downstairs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Yes, Nutmeg?" He looked at me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀I wanted to say so many things, but the words just stuck in my throat. Instead, I handed him his shield. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Good luck, Dad. I love you." ⠀⠀⠀⠀He smiled faintly and took it, "Love you, too, Nutmeg." Before leaving, he k^ssed the top of my head, then shut the door. ⠀⠀⠀⠀The house felt so cold and empty without him. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Peggy, what's wrong?" I could clearly hear Mr. Stark ask Mum on the phone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"I don't know where to begin, Howard. Steve's gone." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"What do you mean?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Red Skull has returned, and he went in search of him." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"When did he last leave?" ⠀⠀⠀⠀"A night ago." ⠀⠀⠀⠀There was silence a moment, but I could tell he was holding the phone away to mutter some word I shouldn't hear. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Why didn't you call me sooner?" He demanded. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"I trust Steve, so I waited." ⠀⠀⠀⠀Again, a muffled c^rse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"I'll send some people out." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Mum, send me," I got out of the chair I had been sitting on and walked to where she stood by the counter, holding the phone. ⠀⠀⠀⠀She faltered a moment, staring at me worriedly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"It's out of the question, Nat," she said firmly and went back to her conversation with Mr. Stark. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"No," I answered just as firmly. "This is my father. I'm old enough to go, so I'm going." ⠀⠀⠀⠀I knew she would continue to refuse, so I took the phone from her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Mr. Stark, you don't happen to have any of my dad's suits, do you? Oh, and a shield." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Natasha, this is dangerous." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"Dad went, and it was dangerous. I'm eighteen, and his daughter. This is my fight, too!" ⠀⠀⠀⠀There was silence on the other end, actual silence. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"You said you need a suit and shield?" He asked. ⠀⠀⠀⠀"That's right." ⠀⠀⠀⠀"I'll see what I can do."
