Idk if this needs Tw's or not so.. This is technically my first ever poem. Some of the rhymes require a certain accent to work so. I wrote this for all the people who have ever felt like they had to hide themselves, I hope this speaks to you. Poem: The wolf in the cage He stays silent, For he has learned It's better to be quiet. He lays in the corner Where he used to claw at the bars, But now he accepts it Cause he never got very far. He doesn't know how to be a real wolf Cause he's always forced to hide. He will always be alone, And he always wants to cry. His prison is made human bone The tamer calls a ribcage. Where she keeps him locked up Hoping some day he'll fade. But it not all the tamers fault. No, you see for If she let him out What would they think of her? Sometimes the tamer's 'friends' will come over And she'll play perfect for the hour. While from that cage She'll hear the wolf begin to howl Sometimes the mask will slip And they will hear it too, But she will always save herself Cause what would they say if they knew? The wolf will sometimes suffocate Wanting to be let out. But the tamer can't hear him Through all her doubt. The wolf knows why he must stay hidden He's a secret that must they must save. For if anyone saw They would both suffer in the grave. But that doesn't stop the wolf from whimpering For he knows he can't be seen. Which also makes the tamer cry As she holds him carefully What if everyone were to have seen? That instead of one person in the house there were two What would they say if they met him? They'd call out this social taboo? And in the end Its for her, when she's ready to share. But until that day comes The wolf will always be there. Sitting in the darkness, Never touching the light, all so fair.
