{TW: d3@th} ❇✥❇ Troutquest, despite her older age now, decided to go hunt. Stretching her legs, she padded outside. It was a greenleaf night. Stars were still in the sky, and it would be hours before anycat woke. Perfect. Xe dusted their paws and then padded towards her hunting spot. Where she chose? The territory near the border. It'd be fine. The cool breeze was quite refreshing, after all. ❇✥❇ Bounding through the beaches, she went over to her spot, and fished. Salty water wet their paws and xer tail swished behind her as she readied faer position. It was really familiar. Memories of xer training flooded back in faer brain. The crouch, the scents, the sighting, the precision and focus...and they'd amassed quite the pile. Giddy, xe readied themself to get back. They weaved reeds to hold the pile together, then went back on her way. Fae smiled at herself. How delighted the Clan would be with her after they saw the large catch in the morning! ❇✥❇ Troutquest picked up the pile in her jaws, then set it on her back, readying her to travel back to camp. It would've been fine, and it would've worked. Had her paw not slipped. Suddenly, a bottom boulder from the rock arch of the CavernClan territory rolled out, sending the other rocks in the arch tumbling down. Troutquest froze up in terror. To her, time seemed to slow. Unfortunately, the rocks didn't. And she bolted. Troutquest dropped a few fish here and there, and she ended up tripping all over one... "No...no!" Xe huffed, trying to catch their breath. They saw the rocks getting closer... And closer... She tried getting up, but it was no use, as her reed carrier had caught onto the grass and they were therefore stuck...she tugged with all their strength, it wouldn't budge. Trout was trapped. "WAIT! N-NO! NOT YET!" but alas, the rocks continued their tumbling... Troutquest blinked back tears and yowled one last thing before the world went dark: "I'M SORRY!" Tears fell from their eyes as the rocks crushed her. She was alone...just her, a few mangled fish, and the boulder. ❇✥❇ And now, it was just her...her and the fish, her and the ground, mangled reeds, and the shore and ocean she loved so dearly... It was all...over.
