In honor of Earth Day, here is an educational Vaquita Game! <I know lots of people don't like reading, but this is really important and I would appreciate it if you read this whole thing> Use your mouse to move. Eat the healthy fish and squid, avoid the sick fish and humbodlt squid. Swimming on the sand will also hurt you. If you touch a gillnet, you automatically die. Your health will slowly regenerate, but if you have no health, you will die. To pause or see the instructions, click the question mark in the top right corner (it does reset the time though). If there are any additional questions, just ask! Vaquitas are a species of porpoise, and the most endangered marine mammals in the world. They are critically endangered, with an estimated 30 individuals remaining. The vaquita's range is limited to the northern part of the Gulf of California in Mexico. Their main threat is by-catch in gillnets, nearly invisible nets that trap and drown vaquitas. Gillnets are banned in the vaquita's area, however there is still illegal fishing going on for another endangered fish, the totoaba. The totoaba's swim bladder is highly valued in China and can be sold for thousands on the black market. Go to www.vivavaquita.org to learn more! How to help save the vaquita: http://www.vivavaquita.org/act-now-to-save-the-vaquita.html Vaquita Facts: -The vaquita is the smallest cetacean in the world, only about 5 feet long! -It is one of the 7 species of true porpoise -It's mouth patch helps it always smile! -It is also known as the "Panda of the Sea" -Vaquita means "little cow" in Spanish -The Vaquita's scientific name is Phocoena sinus People really have a huge impact on Earth, and everyone needs to work together and make the world a better place.
