(original) Playing in the local park Freeze Tag, Grounders, Infection Sounds of hands clapping Children chanting "Lemonade, crunchy ice," "Beat it once, beat it twice!" Jump ropes hitting the ground And flying up in the air again Repetitively Counting down days Till your birthday Starring in your school play Feeling anxious in a good way Fighting with your siblings Racing to the shower After going swimming Parents constantly snapping pictures Whenever something exciting happens Wiping away tears When something goes wrong And feeling triumphant Because you overcame A challenge All these events That played a part in our lives They may be "Forgotten" But really That's just illusionary Because these distant Childhood memories Will be cherished In your heart Somewhere And even if you can't seem To remember them They're still there Safely stored Until the day That you leave this world
(mine) Playing in the park with my friends Freeze tag, infection, hide-and-seek Children chating "Lemonade, Ice tea, Coca-Cola, Pepsi" Running and knees being scraped Counting down days until summer Bringing cupcakes with rings on top for your birthday Parents always taking pictures Watching our favorite childhood shows Feeling better the next day after you were sick Packing all your toys to go on a road trip Our Childhood does not have to disappear, but it should not be forgotten. Remember, be yourself because that's the only way you'll be happy. Relive your childhood memories, it does not matter your age, just enjoy your self.
