The adrenaline had died down by the time we reached the border. Our bodies felt heavy and tired. The moment we reached our little hideout on the border, it wasn’t much. It was just an abandoned war shelter we renovated. However, the little shack felt strangely safe. Katarina looked behind us, then shut the door. As soon as she did so, she walked over to me and wrapped me in a tight embrace. This shocked me, as Katarina never showed affection this way, but she kept me close. I gratefully lean into her hug, my body weak and tired from walking so much. “Don’t you ever scare me like that again,” Katarina said softly, pulling away from me. “Um, I don’t know about that,” I laughed. Katarina’s playful smirk returned as she put her hand on my shoulder, but I eyed her suspiciously. “It actually took me a while to figure out you were missing. I was busy in Demacia, and when I came back you weren't home. I instantly knew where you would be,” Katarina said coldly “I know why you were in Demacia. You were visiting Garren,” I said, pulling his crest from my satchel. I hold it in front of her face. Her eyes widened in anger. “How did you get that?!” She growled, her cheeks flushing a soft shade of pink. She snatched the crest from my hand. “You like him, don’t you?” I said, teasing her. “I do not like him! He’s from Demacia. He’s an enemy!” She said, her cheeks flushing an even brighter shade of pink. Then we heard a loud knock on the door, startling us. Suddenly, a booming male voice echoes through the room. "Open the door now, Katarina!”
