So I had to do a book project for school and I chose to take a portion of this book and write it in a different character's point of view. This will take multiple projects so I will link them here. Pt.1-https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1178243894/ Pt.2-https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1178250858/ Pt.3-https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1178251231/ Part 3-Pt1 “Dex...” Dex’s eyes fluttered open and he winced as the light hit him. “Sophie?” He locked eyes with her. He jumped up hugging her. “I thought I'd never see you again.” He whispered. Sophie buried her face into his scolder crying. “I'm so sorry, Dex. This is all my fault.” Dex didn't know what to say but his heart started fluttering. His stupid crush on her was back. He thought he had buried it because it was obvious she liked Wonder-boy. But now.... he didn't know. They looked like they had a fight but then again, she was mad at everyone when she left Foxfire. He pulled away wiping tears off his face. “I’m just glad you’re okay. And I'm so sorry for the way I’ve been acting...” “Please” Sophie said. “It doesn’t matter. Let’s focus on more important things, like staying alive.” Dex nodded. He looked around at their surroundings confused. “Where are we?” Sophie looked around quickly “Somewhere human, but I don't know where.” Dex’s mind was whirling. “Why would we be in the Forbidden Cities?” “Their hideout must be here. The guy who rescued us didn’t leap, so it cant be far.” Sophie said quietly, which left Dex’s mind whirling even more. He didn't remember much but he did remember the burns and it still hurt. He gently touched his stomach surprised that most of them were gone. He looked up at Sophie scouring the ground for something. “What are you doing?” Dex asked with a raised eyebrow. “He gave me something to help us, and I can't find it.” Dex looked at her confused but got down to help her look. They eventually found a scroll, but it wasn’t helpful. All it had was 3 random words. Alexandre, Lantern, Concentrate, followed by hurry. “Well, that's helpful!” Sophie remarked, crumbling the paper. Why didn't they take us home? Dex thought. He just dumped us here. They were only 13 for crying out loud. “I don't understand, why wouldn't he take us home? Why would he dump us here?” “Because this was his job, and he didn’t want anyone to know he was involved.” Sophie stood up shaking “That’s how the Black-Swan operates.” Dex looked at her confused “The Black-Swan?” “I'll explain as we walk. We should get moving, in case anyone's looking for us.” They started walking along empty roads. Dex was to overstimulated to do anything but walk and stare. Suddenly Sophie stumbled back clutching her head. Dex looked at her concerned. “What’s wrong?” Dex asked, holding her up. “Human thought’s.” She responded closing her eyes. “They’re getting louder. Tiergan taught me how to shield, but I don’t have the energy right now.” Dex looked at his feet. “I can't believe you're a Telepath” He muttered. “Does it matter?” Sophie asked him. “No...” Dex said “But... have you ever listened to my thoughts?” “Of course not.” Sophie said looking surprised. “I don't want to know anyone’s secrets. Plus, it’s against the rules.” Dex watched as she looked at her feet. “The one time I did it I got detention.” “Thats what you got detention for?” Sophie looked embarrassed but he wasn’t an empath, so he had no idea what she was feeling. “I stole the midterm from Lady Galven’s mind.” Dex laughed. He tried not to, but he couldn't help it. Sophie joined him till they were both laughing and couldn't stop. It was a relief to do something so normal when they were still lost. They turned a corner, and Dex went plowing right into an old man. The old man said something in a weird language that sounded like he was trying to clear his throat. Even more shocking was Sophie responded in that same language. After a short exchange Sophie grabbed his arm, and they walked away. “What language were you speaking? It sounded like you were trying to clear your throat.” Dex questioned her when they were out of earshot. Sophie looked confused. “What do you mean?” “What do you mean, what do you mean?” Dex asked back. “I mean... wait...what?” Sophie just looked even more confused. “Sophie, you do realize you were speaking a different language back there, don’t you?”
