So I had to do a book project for school and I chose to take a portion of this book and write it in a different character's point of view. This will take multiple projects so I will link them here. Pt.1-https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1178243894/ Pt.2-https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1178250858/ Pt.3-https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1178251231/ Part 3-Pt.2 “No, I wasn’t.” Dex raised his eyebrows. “Yes, you were.” “Oh!” Sophie exclaimed. “I was speaking English. Humans don't speak the Enlightened Language.” “But I know English, and I couldn't understand a word you just said.” But Sophie wasn't paying attention to him anymore. She was looking at a building towering over the others. “No way...” She whispered as she ran off down the street. “Sophie wait!” Dex called as he chased after her, but she couldn't hear him. Sophie came to a stop in a park at the end of the street as Dex looked up and saw a huge tower unlike any he had ever seen. “What is that thing?” Dex questioned in awe. Sophie’s jaw dropped. “The Eiffel Tower. We're in Paris. Wait!” She turned to face him “We’re in France.” “And that means...” “...You must have heard me speaking .... French.” She looked lost and Dex’s heart skipped a beat. She was so cute when she was confused. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. “Okay, we know where we are. Now what?” “I have no idea. I guess we keep moving.” Sophie responded. They followed a group of humans around. “Were going to need money,” Sophie stated, “but unless you feel like robbing a bank, we’ll have to figure out a way around it.” Dex looked around recognizing a machine from one of his mother’s human movies. “Doesn’t money come out of that machine?” He asked, pointing at it. “That’s how they show it in the movies my mom watches.” Sophie looked sad. “Ya but you have to have an account and a code.” “Can we fake that?” “No. They have all kinds of security measures.” Dex frowned thinking “Well, I’m going to check it out. Maybe I can make it work.” “How can you ‘make it work’?” “I'm good with gadgets.” Sophie bit her lip, “Fine, but he careful. They have cameras and stuff.” He walked into the line trying to avoid eye contact. Once he got to the front of the line, he started pressing buttons until the machine dispensed 1,000 dollars. He walked back to Sophie. “Is this enough? It's just paper, so I wasn’t sure.” Sophie gasped and her eyes widened as she looked around. “What did you do?” “I just told it we needed money and it gave me this.” “You told it? How?” “I don't know. I just knew what buttons I needed to press. Why?” “Because that’s not normal, Dex. You just robbed an ATM.” “I did?” “Yeah” she said as she put the money into her pocket. “How come you're so good with machines? Is that a special ability or something?” Dex’s brain was spinning. His shoulders fell as he realized that it probably was. “It is. I bet I'm a Technopath.” “You say it like it’s a bad thing.” “It’s about as good as being a Froster. But I guess it’s better than nothing. I'll have to look into it when we get home... If we get home.” His voice was trembling, and he was looking at his feet. Sophie squeezed his hand. “We’ll find a way. I got us into this, and I will get us out.” “How?” Dex whispered. “I don't know, why wouldn't he give us a nexus?” Sophie asked “They can track nexus through the field that holds you together.” “Okay. Then the answer must be in this note. We need to do some research.” “Research?” “Yeah.” Sophie looked around and pulled Dex towards a building. Sophie ordered something called a chicken sandwich. He gagged as he realized it had meat on it. She ordered him a cheese sandwich, and she bought an hour of something called internet time. Dex laughed as she navigated the computer. “Technology” He muttered thinking about how different this was from what he was used to. “That’s it!” Sophie gasped. Dex followed her as she asked the shopkeeper for directions, and she led him to a bridge. “Mabey we should split up,” Sophie offered. “What are we even knowing for?” “No idea. Just look for anything that looks elven and we’ll go from there.” “Easier said than done,” Dex grumbled looking around at all the different lanterns. He looked around but failed at finding anything. Rest of the story is after the credits.
This is not my own story!!! The only part that is 100% mine is part 2. The charicter's all come from the book, so this should hopefully be close to the actual book event's. Most of the quotes are from KOTLC book 1: By Shannon Messenger. If any of you know of any other credit I need please let me know. Rest of the story: “Dex, get over here!” Sophie shouted. “Did you find it?” Dex said running over. “I found something.” Sophie motioned to the rune. “That means Eternalia. This has to be what the note wanted is to find.” “How does it get us home?” There seemed to be no technical way for a lamp post to get them home. “I have no idea.” They both scanned the lamp looking for anything unusual. “Dex... there’s a crystal. None of the other lanterns has that.” “You're sure” “Ya, I know these lanterns by heart now, and this is the only one that has it.” Sophie squinted and smiled. “It's a leaping crystal, and I bet it leaps straight to Eternalia.” “You did it! We can go home!” Dex shouted, picking her up and spinning her around. His heart fluttered and he jumped back blushing again. “Sorry. I’m just happy.” Sophie shrugged “No problem.” But he caught her blushing a tiny bit. She cleared her throat, “But we still don’t have nexuses. How are we supposed to get home?” Dex shrugged “People leap without them all the time.” “Ya people who don't need them anymore,” Sophie retorted. “We’re close enough and will concentrate extra hard when we do it. We might come back a little faded, but that only lasts a few days.” Sophie looked down thinking. “Well, we can’t do it until sunrise.” Dex watched her point at the angle of the crystal. “Maybe we should find somewhere to sleep for the night.” Sophie stated. Dex nodded thinking out loud. “I can’t believe there’s a crystal to Eteralia hidden in the Forbidden Cities. Do you have any idea how illegal that is?” “I wonder why it's here” Sophie muttered. “So we can come and go as we please,” a gruff voice said as a group of people stepped out of the shadows all holding Medlers. The kidnappers had found them.
