Tripod Research: [ Section One: What is a tripod? ] A tripod (idk what to call it .<.) in animals is when an animal has three legs, either being born with it or losing a limb through an amputation of a severe injury to the animal. Usually, a severe injury caused by a vehicle accident would require to have the leg to be amputated. [ Section Two: How it Develops] As stated above, a missing limb is caused by being born with it or a traumatic injury that causes the leg to be amputated. [ Section Three: Health Risks ] None that I could find on my research website. [ Section Four: How Tripod Affects the Cat ] Tripod isn't very effective for the cat, though some cats do need time to adjust to a three-legged lifestyle, especially if they lost the limb through an amputation. However, some cats do still believe that the limb is still present and will sometimes even try to use it. Though it's not entirely known if cats experience phantom limbs like humans do and not all believe that they still have a fourth limb. Cats with three legs also are a bit slower than cats with four limbs. [ Section Five: Specifics To Nightjar ] Tripod will specifically affect Nightjar by making him slower than the average kit. Sometimes he'll limp if his missing limb is giving him to much trouble, but jay doesn't typically get to irritated with it. Nighty will also sometimes believe that he has this limb, often trying to scratch at his ear without realizing that limb is missing.
