Not using any caps (aside from usernames) for the description, just letting anyone who may be triggered by caps know! Sorry if any of this doesn't make sense I'm not very comprehensive at times. About me. *My name is Karkat, I am a trans man who uses he/him pronouns and have a complicated relationship with my sexuality and romantic orientation but I am very queer. and I have been a member of the hive since October 2023. I'm sixteen years old, my time zone is PST, and my time online fluctuates, but I can be online at any time during the day. Upsides. *I am active and well-known, meaning I already have a lot of respect and connections with curators. *I am a strong and recognizable advocate for many "controversial" identities, and have been told that I have improved people's viewpoints on them from multiple people. *I participate in the discussion studio and discussions in Mainhive regularly, and have a lot of practice in it. *I am familiar with the managers. *I am outspoken, and will often say what I think even if I am in the minority. *I care for the Hive and have already gotten to see it grow substantially since I have joined, and while I have had an impact on that, I think I could have an even larger impact if I was in a leadership position. Downsides. *I can get very emotional, and that bleeds into my ability to see things objectively or engage in discussions. It also makes it easy for people to agitate me and can cause me to say things I wouldn't otherwise say. *I can be somewhat closeminded and intolerant of other's opinions. *I am outspoken at times, while can be a good thing, is also something that can be an issue, as I may say things that are wrong, get too hung up over small things, prolong/cause arguments and harsh feelings, or be rude. *I am easily stressed and am prone to anxiety. *I often misinterpret tone or will misread messages, which makes it hard for me to interact with others without causing confusion, at time. *I have trouble understanding emotions and perspectives that I have not experienced and sometimes even ones that I am not in that moment experiencing, so it may be hard for me to connect to others and engage in nuanced discussions. Unique things I could bring to the position. *I am the most attractive man in America I think we need someone like me on the team. This is a joke okay. *I am mentally and physically disabled, use "contradictory" and "controversial" labels, Native American, and am nonhuman, and am well educated about these topics along with other groups that are often overlooked, and speak out about these. I think that it's important to have representation, especially from those who are willing to speak up about certain experiences. I also have held a lot of different perspectives at different periods of being a hive member and can engage with other perspectives with a level of understanding. What I would improve about the Gaehive if I were promoted. *In itself, having another manager is an improvement, as long as they are active and able to moderate, it gives other managers less things to worry about and more time to take care of themselves. *Other than the given, I'd really like to help out with things like Zayviian's list of rejected Discussion Studio proposals and the Gaehive Manager Updates Studio. *I would also try to enforce rules the best I can, having an extra set of claws that is pretty active and has more respect as a manager would probably be helpful. Planning on doing this whether I am manager or not. *I would also continue to improve the Hive in ways that I already have been, like my advocacy or my discussion skills. Again, planning on doing this whether I am manager or not. Some of what I think being a a manager entails. *Enforcing the rules. *Being active enough to moderate. *Sending Scratch Team messages about users or suggestions or complaints. *Being active and responsive in the discussion studio. *Being willing to help users with their issues within the studio. *Being willing to take criticism and suggestions and improve. *Being able to handle difficult situations in a mature and calm manner. *Being able to reach out to users that are chasing issues and actually discuss their behavior with them, even if it is difficult. *There are probably more, but there are what come to mind and based on what managers have said in the past.
Recommendations, in alphabetical order. @Hercules715. If he applies, it would be a great pick. Xe is very kind, helpful, and active. A way that he has improved the studio is by regularly responding to comfort and euphoria requests. @PiizzAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Though I am biased and am unsure if woof is applying, I think bark would be an incredible manager. Woof is smart, kind, helpful, and has shown improvement in how bark deals with situations regarding the studio. A couple examples of how woof has improved the studio is helping moderate an offsite space, which includes helping deal with situations that affect the studio on scratch, and reminding people of the rules quite frequently. @starshipaurora. Though Jay is not incredibly active, I do think that she would be an amazing manager. He is thoughtful and has shown an ability to participate in discussions about the studio, which is my example for her. There are others who I think would be great managers, that I may talk about in the recommendation studio at some point, but these are my top picks. I hope my application was readable and thorough and properly presented my desire to be manager. Thank you for reading it, and thank you to anyone who is rooting for me or has recommended me! I appreciate it. Good luck to everyone.
