Lore; After Mario was forced by Nintendo to win most of the medals, Sonic was not angry at Mario, in fact he was angry at Sega for removing Mario from SAMATOG *and* Nintendo for forcing Mario. Because he was one of the main characters from the title. So Sonic decides to go to Sega and Nintendo and kill all of the employees there, leaving Mario to confront him. (Mario didn't want to win because he knew that Sonic would be jealous.)
