1 Time will change you– Whether or not you want it to. Standing in the fountain, you wanted more, So everything around you fell to the floor. And when you said “No”, The world wouldn’t decide, not for a girl waiting by the door– Waiting for a sight she’d never seen before. But when the days turn to hours, And your thoughts turn from fruit to flower, You’ll leave it there with the dust underneath your bed– Along with all the things you left unsaid. 2 He watches you– Standing at the water’s edge– He shows his fangs and you see a smile– So you walk over and he’ll say “I’ll show you a good time”– And you won’t say no– So the next time someone smiles, you see teeth And when you think they’re giving you too much sympathy You say you want to go home And when they ask you over Another time, you’ll tell them– Until there’s nothing left to say. Time will change you. Won’t it? 3 It took a long time to realize What you were really fighting for then. It took a long time to remember Why you left the things you watched happen. It took a long time to know why you weren’t happy when you got what you wanted. Because time flaps its wings– And there it flies. Because time flaps its wings– You have to say goodbye. It took a long time to cry for yourself– So then it’ll only take a few times for you to stand alone, here, A child playing in a graveyard– Forced to leave too soon. // just a quick poem to finish off this theme ! i wrote this a while back and i'm still *somewhat* proud of it so why not post it here haha. sorry if it doesn't make much sense ^^' (will edit desc later!) the song is happiness is a butterfly by lana del rey (i recommend u play it while reading) !! it inspired the title & the poem kinda grew from that . i don't listen to lana often though , this is one of the songs i play from her <3
