I was so thrilled once I finally got my hands on a copy of this book--after all, a lot of people had recommended it to me. However, as I read the series, I started to notice a few... red flags. The first red flag was Kai's real name. In case you didn't know, Kai is short for Malakai... which was, quite frankly, extremely concerning. I know a kid in my orchestra with horrifyingly shaggy black hair who comes to rehearsals with these even more concerning goggles, and to make things worse, he wore his hair in freaking pigtails today. I'm not trying to judge--it isn't as if my fashion style isn't way worse, but when I saw the word "Malakai", that was what I thought of, which kind of snapped me out of the "dark, brooding hottie" vibe. The second red flag was Kai's taste in food. As a professional fruit-eater (seriously, I will eat literally any fruit you give me), I was positively OFFENDED when it was revealed that he hated most fruit. But, to make things worse, he hated BLUEBERRIES, which are my FAVORITE FRUIT. My friends: He's a 10 but he has a tail (Cardan) Me: 10 My friends: He's a 10 but he's morally grey (Literally every booktok boy) Me: 10 My friends: He's a 10 but he keeps a lot of secrets (Xaden) Me: 10 My friends: He's a 10 but he doesn't like most fruit Me: WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT? 0!
GUYS DON'T COME AFTER ME I'M JUST KIDDING
