Smash. WAIT WAIT WAIT I MEANT SMASH PLANTS- Species name: comprimens crepusculum Common name: Crusher duskworm Niche: Generalist omnivore size: 10-12 cm. At roughly 10 to 12 cm long, these are descendants of the beluga duskworm that have been outcompeted by their larger cousins in filter-feeding neiche, swimming into warmer waters in order to escape. However, this area had less zooplankton and more large, solid plants, so they have evolved rough patches near their mouth that can crush them into bits. They can still filter-feed by closing their mouth and filtering using these rough bumps, but it’s far less effective. In defense from predators, they can deliver a solid, crushing bite that can take down smaller prey, but usually fails against more specialized predators. This is paired with the ability to consume small amounts of meat, and this makes them generalists that thrive in most areas.
Also that picture does not represent the size difference my bad
