Click or tap Its time to don our gay apparel! In all seriousness, this year’s pride month and pride month for the next few years will be the most important time in recent history so make sure you reach out to your queer friends and family (bio or found), take some time to look after yourself, remember our history and thank those in the past who lay down the foundational stones so that we can get to where we are today, tell your story and raise awareness of your queerness as well as the queerness of those who’s voices struggle to be heard, be proud of your differences and stay safe. I am Aro Ace (Aromantic and Asexual) and so speaking as someone who is apart of a minority voice within the LGBT+ community: YOU ARE QUEER ENOUGH! YOU ARE IMPORTANT AND SPECIAL! YOU DESERVE HAPPINESS AND RECOGNITION! It doesn’t matter what your experience with queerness is: our community shouldn’t be defined by labels or past experiences! We need to stick together and raise eachother up as we are all defined, not by pedantic definitions or historic and/or recent struggles, but by our rejection of typical societal norms and our amazing uniqeness as human beings (or assorted horrors and cryptids). Its okay to not be sure, to be experimental, to not have labels, to have many lables, to fall within stereotypes, to have elements of your preferences or identity that slip outside of stereotypical expectations, to contradict or not make sense, to be out and proud, to be closeted, to be reserved and celebrate queerness with yourself, to be young, to change your identity later on, to realise parts of yourself when you’re older, to drop preconcieved ideals about a group of people, to admit you were wrong, to be insecure or doubt yourself, to feel frustrated, alone or broken. All queer stories are equally valid and it makes up your very unique and special queer identity. Remember: - Safety is the most important thing - Respecting someone and their identity is the minimum requirement - Do whatever you want, wear that dress or cut your hair that way if it makes you happy - People who don’t love every part of who are aren’t worth keeping around or listening to - Advocate for your needs and preferences! Don’t be ashamed to take up space - You don’t have to change everything in a day. Existing against a society who hates you is the biggest form of protest there is - It gets better, I promise. You are stronger then you think - Breakups are temporary but Animal Crossing is forever - Buy chocolate on the 15th of February, it will change your life Happy Pride Month to my fellow freaks and groovy cuties - Milly
