We walk out of Neptune cabin, to a quiet ssc. It’s clear that most people have already gone to sun cabin, due to the lack of people. I love it here. It’s quiet. No roaring cars, no screaming kids, no loud noises: it’s peaceful. There aren’t many trees- I mean we are in a field- but it’s still beautiful. Now I’m wondering a strange question. It’s not that strange, but still. Why, out of all the people, is Maya Jeorgen here? She picks on me for liking space and other nerdy things like that. Either she’s just insecure and really loves space, or she’s a total Hippocratic idiot. Hmm. Or maybe I should just ask Millie. The two were stepsisters, after all. I’m not quite sure how someone as nice as Millie could like someone so cruel as Maya, but that’s a mystery for another day. I open my mouth to ask her, but shut it again. Dammit!! Why do I have to be so stupidly socially awkward?!? “What’s your favourite colour?” Asks Millie playfully. “Ummm… green. Or blue. I’m not sure.” I reply, stuttering my way through speech. “Mines pink.” Smiles Millie. “Before I came out as transgender, my dad thought I was… well, a total loser. Because I was into girly stuff, he thought I was a suck-up. Honestly, I know he really thinks It’s a phase. He just won’t admit it.”. Huh. I had no idea how much Millie had been through. “I… Millie…” I say. “Why is Maya here..?” I ask cautiously. “Oh… um… I forced her to come. I love space, and I wanted us to do it together.”. Millie seems significantly more withdrawn on answering this. She’s not telling the truth- or at least she’s telling a half truth. “Do you have any siblings?” Millie asks, notably changing the topic quickly. “Er- yes. A little brother. His name is Joseph, but we all call him Joe… aside from Maya, what about you?” I ask. I’m getting pretty good at this talking to people thing. I’ve barely talked to anyone since what happened to Scarlet. “Oh, I was an only child until my dad started dating Nikki, Maya’s mum. Maya has an older sister called Josephine, but she moved out a year ago. Next question: do you believe in aliens?”. I have to admit it; that’s a good question. “ hmm. Well, if the universe is infinite, there has to be life out there somewhere.”. “I agree” says Millie. “We can’t be the only living things in the universe.”. We stop outside sun cabin. Through the glass doors I can see the desk where I checked in earlier. I know that in the room to the left there’s the dining hall, and in the room to the right there’s the leaders bedroom. It’s quite a pretty building, with ivy crawling down the wooden walls. “This is…quite something…” says Millie, in utter awe. “I know.” I reply. Right. Dinner time.
